PILOT NOTE:
The surgeon general has determined the smoking leads to lower framerates!

The Hostess Company whoever is trying to dispute this claim!

Well, I've been smoking a LOT in Mindanao. Far more than usual.

I haven't really noticed a slow down in framerate though. That may be because I never seem to smoke for very long. Couple of pings, smoke.. couple more pings, big explosion, puff of smoke hangs in the air a second and then it's gone and I'm back in the tower.

So, yeah.. I've seen a lot of smoke, but it isn't making much difference.

Doh. Ok; lets try it THIS way.

Multiple hangers and ground facilities destroyed creates a lot of smoke. It seems that being in the close vicinity of THIS smoke has a far more significant negative effect on my frame rates than any previous terrain has had. Has anybody else noted the same thing?

Now, where's my twinkie? ..it wuz here a moment ago... AGGGRH... fediddlein Hairball now has a cream filling mustache...

Saw a few people complaining about the same thing yesterday as 5 or 6 things were smoking at a field (all hangars and ammo bunkers).  Maybe this is just more of a problem now that all fields have more hangars at them.

ya know what's funny (but might make sense) is that in DX8Beta 9 the smoke doens't affect the fps nearly as much. But the same smoke is a killer in the current AH release.

no twinkie for you! i licked them all

I agree Mason... the smoke doesn't hit the frame rate very hard at all.. bring on the smoke !

(WAIT!  I just agreed with a FDB!!! sigh... my squads gonna make me clean the latrine again!)

No, me too. I just started flying again after a two week absence. Got back, logged on, got the d/l for terrains and flew. I flew through smoke both at my own damaged field and at fields I was attcking; same deal frame rates in the toilet.
