Need Help Finding WW2 Movie
« on: July 21, 2007, 12:18:34 AM »
Hi Guys, I am looking for a bomber movie and all i vividly remember about this movie was jets and rocket planes attacking the bomber formations and when he saw the jets a crewmember said "Hey! I thought Buck Rodgers was on OUR side!"

I can tell you some of the movies it is NOT because these are in my collection:

12 O'Clock High

War Lover

Dambusters

Fighter Squadron

Bridges At Toko Ri (LOL i knew the list would be long anyway... needed humor)

Flying Tigers

Flying Leathernecks

Yank in the RAF

Battle Of Britain

Air Force

Dive Bomber

Strategic Air Command

30 Seconds over Tokyo

Memphis Belle

Aerial Gunner

Bombardier

It has been almost 30 years since seeing this movie on TV... I didnt bother listing my other war movies because the emphasis of those movies is not bombing or flying and this movie was almost all aerial action.

I have literally been searching for this one movie to add to my collection for 5 years and it led me to some of the movies listed above...  I KNOW if ANY group of knotheads can come up with an answer - THIS group can come up with it... Thanks in Advance!

well I think the verbage of the "quote" is off.....

though he first appeared in 1928 there seems to be no quote ever of "buck rogers was on our"

or even similar... it is "rogers" btw not rodgers" from what I can find.

you sure it wasn't another "sci-fi" character named?
I don't know what to put here yet.

You're right about "Rogers" (Thought I backspaced that out lol)  I knew i couldnt find that quote...  I know that was the reference made because about the same time the show "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century" show was on tv.

I have searched a variation of that quote on google, hotbot, you name it!

It seems to me it had Humphrey Borgart in it. He ended up being a test pilot as I recall.

How about Flash Gordon instead of Buck Rogers?

Just a thought.

Chain Lightning-Humphrey Bogart  1950
This is it.

Great Movie

Jets were certainly a new phenomenon in those years and had the Germans developed them sooner and additionally had invested in aircraft carriers, the course of history would have been markedly and tragically different.

Humphrey Bogart is not bad as the Chuck Yeager like test pilot, in fact Yeager's historic flight breaking the sound barrier is referenced in the plot. Warner Brothers would have been better served with a straightforward biographical film about that flight.
