Here you go Goth, these are from my opinion.   I know this is gonna get hijacked, but these are my 5.

1.  Paul Kossoff
2.  George Harrison (only Duane could play "slide" better)
3.  Alex Lifeson (lives in the shadows of Neil and Geddy)
4.  Vernon Reid
5.  Bill Nelson

Not that other opininos are not worth mentioning, I think this thread needs them cause I actually don't agree with my squaddie. For instance, I do think Harrison and Lifeson have been recognized by fans and peers alike, therefore in my opinion not under rated.

Harrison was more "notorious" for songwriting, not his "musicianship".

I would beg to differ with you most honored associate. It was While My Guitar Gently Weeps that people stood up and noted his talent on the strings.

I will agree with others when they state Junior Brown and Donald Roeser....however Mark Knopfler and most certainly Frampton and Beck are noted by fans and peers.

But Clapton played the solos.   Harrison, until he went "solo", lived in the shadows of John and Paul.   We all know how much of a control freak Paul is.

I agree that Beck, Frampton and Knopfler are not "under rated".

Clapton has a tendency to get "Sloppy" at times ...

I have to agree Harrison always brought in the Gods to play "As my guitar gently weeps"

Hands down THE most under rated guitarist ever is Johnny Winter.
