Bart was 10 in 1987 when The Simpsons started.  That makes him 30 now...

The Simpsons have jumped the occasional shark, primarily in the celebrity episodes. But, by and large, it has delivered in a top-of-class way and still does today. I hope the movie doesn't suck.

Is the movie going to be the last hurrah?  I hope so if it's very good.

FOX's gotta start importing some shows.  Their Sunday lineups are just too mind numbing, and The Simpsons is just getting old and waaay overdue...

I did buy some gas and a sandwich at a Kwik-E-Mart last week.

If the Simpsons had maybe stopped around season 8 or 9, then I would say you could make a good debate for this.  The last 7 years or so are just a drag for me.  The fact that they keep dragging the series on with originality that is as good as move reality TV shows, has tarnished the series for me.  The series really blossomed when they shifted the focus off Bart (in the early seasons) to Homer.

Don't get me wrong, I still love the first half (I guess you could say) of the series span.  However, my expectations for the Simpsons movie are about as high as I had them for any of Hollywood's blockbluster threequels this year....and by that I mean there was zilch.  I'll rant on movie sequels in some other thread some other time.
