C/D and a G
« on: July 27, 2007, 10:35:45 AM »
The B25 screenshots on the front page tell us a few things.

The skin will be a C/D. There will be a strafer option. The strafer option will not be a separate plane in the hangar, but rather a loadout option (same skin, same tail codes, on both glass nose and solid nose screenshots).

We've seen footage of a G with the big gun. G is too different from C (I believe) that it has to have its own airframe. No speculation on any J models yet. Never look a gift horse in the mouth, though, C/D and G are sweet as-is.

So, tailor your skins for C/D (including strafer models) and G!

You are correct Krusty. The nose of the G is quite different.

The loadout option will be an interesting point. Will selecting a certain loadout change the skin options?

The most logical way to do it, is to have the nose skinned solid, but then "cut out" or "turn off" the solid parts over the glass when it's the glass nose (like a hard-coded alpha layer?). So I'm guessing we (as skinners) just "fill in" that entire are on the skin, and the game code handles the rest.

The funny thing is that some of the screenshots look like the glass is painted, and some look like the glass is there but it's dark inside (nothing behind it). I've seen photos of both examples on modified strafers.

Well that might not work properly as many D's had the glass painted over. B-25D "Dirty Dora" was like that, and so were several other Air Apache Mitchels.

On second thought, looking closer at the D images on the front page, I see it is done as painted glazing. The option just needs to be there to have the entire nose painted over.

They had both Cs and Ds.  It's really the same bird so the RAF or RAAF stuff will work fine as will the Soviet lend leas stuff.

Um... So, im confused looking at those pictures... Is there going to be one option with a bomb-sight, one option with MGs, and one with the cannon?

C/D (same plane, not sure what they'll call it in-game) looks like it will have a glass-nose option and a solid-nose option.

Then there will be a second plane (with a totally different nose) that has the 75mm gun. This will be the G model

So that's 2 hangar entries, 3 configurations, that we can speculate about so far.

I mentioned this in another thread: I think the nose will be glazed all the time (even if you get the strafer package). It think it's just not finished yet (he's still working on the model) in that picture. The same picture has the V-stabs boxed off and square, but a different picture (which shows the glass nose) has rounded stabs much more refined.

I think it's just an early group of screenshots, maybe.

Again, I dont know anything about the B-25, so by your guesses, do you think we would get a straight bomber?
