What song is this?

When you click on this link to listen to Paralyzer, ignore the words & just listen to the music.

Which song was almost just like this, but about 20 years ago?

(It's not a trivia question. I'm looking for the answer.)

I thought it was an older song as well until I saw that it was released this year or last.  Sorry I don't have the answer, they remind me of Smashmouth though.

Doesn't mean anything, unfortunately.  Did Vanilla Ice properly acknowledge Queen/David Bowie?

I thought I recognized the tune at first, but I can't place it either.  (Not that that means anything, since I don't listen to music much anymore.)

True, music is sampled into oblivion these days.

There are quite a few sources (mostly youtube) about them ripping of Motley Crue's Too Young to Die.  It also sounds familiar to "Trampled Underfoot" by Led Zeppelin to me.

You're right mom, the main riff is ripped off from an earlier song, and its driving me crazy that I can't remember which one. I thought it was a Billy Squier song for a moment, but that's not it.

I guess someday we'll have exhausted every possible combination of guitar cords and every song produced by a standard 4 man guitar band will sound like something done before.
