B25 Question Fer HTC
« on: July 28, 2007, 04:15:56 AM »
HTC staffers,

The popular consensus is that you guys are making it a D and G model.  which is fine, but my question is this.  Will it also if it is a D model have the retractable ventral turret? or just the one dorsal turret?  I know in subsequent versions of the 25 the retractable turret was done away with in favor of the waist and tail guns, but since this is looking like the D and G will it have the ventral turret? I am not criticizing or being spiteful, I am thankful for the new plane, just curious and would appreciate any reply from y'all.

Thanks in advance.

the ventral turret will be planted up your ***, and the dorsal turret will be planted, further up your ***!  Other than that, I haven't a clue about  turret placement!:aok

They had trouble with the B24's retractable turret so I believe they will leave any retractable turrets in the "down" position.

You guys are lame for not voting for the Vader.  It's a bomber AND a fighter.

No WW2 sim should go this long without the Invader.  :(

From what I recall the lower turret was even removed on B versions. I doubt it would still be in use in C/D versions. It was not an ideal emplacement.

They got rid of it most of the time.  It just didn't work.

No, it's just a bomber that is outclassed as a fighter against most mid-war planes and all late war planes.  However, like the Havoc, you can get lucky and catch the odd newbie or unaware fighter pilot.  But go against an experienced fighter pilot and the A-26 is toast, no matter the skill level of the 'vader driver.

The D still had it stock, if it was removed it was removed in the field.  As far as the failure rate of it in real life, if the rest of the guns and turrets in AHII do not suffer mechanical failure I see no reason for the retractable turert to suffer mechanical failure.  The periscope may have made real life pilots have a time of shooting it, but Im sure the toon pilots will be able to fire them just fine as we do not get air sick.

I didn't say it's a GREAT fighter.  But, lose the eggs and the Vader was said to be quite nimble for a plane of its size.  Sure, the LGay 7's and Spitooys will always have the advantage in AH over it.  But, who cares...I'd just love to take my chances against anything with all those guns at my fingertips.

I enjoyed the Vader in all versions of AW.  Would really like having it here (finally).  :)
