Oh I like the JU-88
« on: July 30, 2007, 09:22:04 AM »
What a nice flying bomber. I had a really nice run with them last night. I haven't flown it yet cause the evails weren't glowing but I must say I liked it. The climb rate wasnt bad at all, and I had it loaded with full fuel. I also got it up to about 280'ish fully loaded and almost 300 mph after dumping at about 15,000'. It handles nice, is a softy to land, has plenty of bullets in the guns, and a good and versatile bomb load.

Just an enjoyable bomber to fly.

Defensive fire is low, and covering arcs are not great.  Performance and capacity is good.  If you like Arados and need the perks, or want a good bomber ranking, the JU-88 can help you along in both categories.  At altitude, and if you get your bombing technique and accuracy down, all those bombs can kill many strats at one or more bases.

A later war version or some ord options would be nice with JU-88.

Not bad on very low level suicide runs vs V's either, so long as there are some friendlies in the area to distract all the ack, gunners, and enemy fighters.  Get in close, drop torps, then climb fast dropping eggs across the CV.  Usually not survivable though.

FINALLY!!!!!! someone else who likes these birds!!!!:aok

my only complaint about them is that they're not too well defended......and pray you never have lusche or some of the others that are very good at attacking bombers come after ya....although it is a beautiful thing to watch...wouild be more so if it were someone ELSES bombers though!:O :rofl

you are right though....nice climb, great level speed, and very accurate too. i've found it fairly easy to precision bomb in the ju88.......now if only i could fly it as long as i can fly a lanc or a 24......:D

I forget. There are a lot of children here.

Thanks for the great response ted. The 20 bombload worked great on a refinery. I was able to carpet real nicely. There seems to be something about this machine that allows for such nice runs and it intrigues me. Im going to contnue to explore the JU-88.

Cap lets get together and run some JUs sometime. My game name is "bombrich".:aok

You should be able to spot the intention, even if it contradicts itself. I read it as "up until now I haven't flown it."

I had no problem understanding the point behind the post, but that's just me.

Now I have a "thing" for the B-26, "fresh off my JU-88 craze". Im not going to forget to log some hours still in the JU but that B-26 turns so nicely and is sooo easy to handle. I had a bogey chasing me and I was able to easily keep him in my rear until I "patienced him out".

Nice punch for short, med ALT targets as well. And fairly tough. No doubt a good "mission" bomber. A group of 12 or 15 can pulverize an airfield I net. I love all the bullets in the tail gun and what true blooded American doesnt love the 0.50's. All in all a lovely bomber.

Ju88s in the right hands can nail targets easily, though the defensive guns leave little to work with.  Salvo the 50Kgs at salvo 10 and the 250Kgs at salvo 3 all with a delay of .05 this will give you enough ord for 3 hangars and a strat. (10 x 50Kgs per hangar and 3 x 250Kgs per hangar then the last 250Kg for a strat)
:aok

You know it has 500kg options as well? Screw the 250kg for 1 hangar @ salvo 3, take the 500kgs and salvo 1 for 4 hangars! (500kg =~1000lbs)

Then if you get a "near miss" and the hangar is soft, salvo off 5-10 of the 50kg bombs to finish it :D
