No, not a U-boat. :)

Boeing has leased the U-16 back up hull and repainted her in three shades of blue to match the new 787 Dreamliner, recently rolled out at Boeing's Everett Plant.

The U-787 will make it's first appearance in the Seafair Torchlight Parade on July 28th in Seattle, then it will be on display August 2nd at the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum in Kent, for their annual Gala Banquet & Auction.

Look for the U-787 to be on display at the Stan Sayres pits, and perhaps make a parade lap or two prior to Sunday's Seafair race.

If it submerges, will it surface, intact?
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

btw that first picture is actually how they transport those boats. It's not just set up like that for a display, they actually cruse down the highway just like that.

its just Boeing spending "Alot" of money for advertising .

I wish they would of split the unlimited hydro's into 2 classes , Piston and turbine .  but alias ... theres only so much sponsorship and intrest in them .

the Miss bud and the whole hydro sport  has been hurting since Bernie Little passed away , alot of the other big names in the sport went back to outboards and limited classes .

ooooffffff..... thats a sexy boat.

There should be video I believe of either Miss Budweiser or Miss Circus Circus that did submerge and come back up running. Possible may have also been Ol'Boy Oberto. Regardless I do remember a video showing that.

I'll see what I can dig up.

hyena, was at the Tri-Cities race in 2000. The old piston boats doing exibitions runs were more fun to watch than the turbos.

For watching limited boats, go to Valleyfield PQ.

oohh ya..atleast i think they are too..lol you know what i dont like they did to columbia park? they took down the old miss tri cities hydro that was dispayed in the park sence i was a kid..and put up that newer piece of poo..instead of just restoring and repainting the old one..i guess some one has the old miss tri cities..would be cool to put it back in the water! hehe was from the 1960's i think

i miss watchin the old pay n pak  , squire shop and atlas boats going at it full bore with a giant roster tail shooting out the back..real thunder on the water..lol..i hope the sport doesnt die out due to lack of sponcers.

you tube does have some cool old school hydro wrecks...go watch the old one with bill muncy in the late 1950's..lol flys out of controll and wrecks into and sinks a coast guard boat..lol

here is a nice clip of the griffin powerd miss bud roo:)
