I haven't let it slip yet that you're actually one of those mega lottery winners and the reason you rarely appear in the arenas is that you're up to your neck in strippers ... ooops... nevermind ;)

I've seen something similar done with the Eastern Front

Very cool and informative, both the Civil War and Great Patriotic War presentations. Thanks for posting them. :)

WOW!

I am stunned that watching two colors on a map move around along with some names and a casualty counter produced a strong emotional response from me…
That was truly amazing!

Thanks for this gem of a post.

If someone finds a higher resolution version of this, please post it; it was difficult to read.

My folks are from the extreme North East point in Mississippi, just across the border from Shiloh.

I remember asking my grandaddy about the Civil War...he told me that both of my GGGrandaddys fought and survived the war.....Gettysburg, Chattanooga, Richmond.

Mississippi Rifles regiments.

He told me about when he was young (1920's) and plowing a field with mules.  He would often times come across cannonballs and Minne Balls.

I asked what he did with the old Civil War bullets..

"Made lead fishing sinkers out of them"....he said.

My ancestors were farmers, and did not own slaves.

It's amazing how history and the culture of our own country has changed due to this horrific struggle.

I grew up near Chicago, but the South has not changed in some ways in over a century.

I believe they show that film at the Lincoln Library in Springfield, IL.

As much as some of you are dazzled by the shifting colors, I find it very difficult to tear my eyes away from the lower right hand corner.   The casualties mount to horrifying levels very quickly . . .

I've watched it four times now and keep looking at different things including that counter.  I just showed it to my inlaws; I think my father-in-law (87) has watched it at least four times.  I keep hearing him restart it.  He has emailed it to several friends and family as well.

It is something to watch multiple times. It shows the war in a way that keeps you watching. But I think Sherman's murder march should be portrayed differently, with a flame following the blue of his murderous command.
