Black Sheep 8th Squadron!
« on: August 03, 2007, 11:34:14 PM »
Hello all!

My name is Jaw, I am the leader of the Black Sheep 8th fighter squadron of the 49th fighter group based in new guinea in ww2 from 1940 to 1944.

I am announcing that our squadron is now active within Aces High two - coming from IL2 Sturmovik, our pilots have a lot of experience that we directly throw into this simulator and with our new activation we are recruiting pilots!

First, some general information on our squadron!
-We are active in both IL2 and AH2.
-We do have practices generally running twice a week (one weekend and one weekday for flexibility)
-We are very easy going, there are no attendance restrictions although we do want you to make the effort to attend a practice when you can. We understand that people have lives and that they cant always be there.
-We do expect people to be active on our forums.
-We work as a team, no matter what. We strive for teamwork in all flying we do!
-We provide training in our aircraft that we fly (p40's, p47's, p38's).

Here is what we are looking for!

-Pilots aging from 18 + (for maturity reasons) although we are willing to take younger pilots... that is if they are mature enough to fly with a squadron.

-Pilots with some skill in AH.

-Pilots who especially love flying the p40's, p47's and p38's. Reason being is because these three aircraft is what our squadron was flying in new guinea.

So, with that said we invite you to visit our webpage Visit the black sheep 8th squadrons webpage drop us a line on the forums in the recruitment section if you wish to be considered for recruitment, pilots do not need to be active in IL2, although that is a perk because we are active in both sims.

Oh, and before I leave I cant forget, our friend wild bill wants to say hi!

Those three fighters are our specialty, but that doesn't mean its all we fly, we do fly other fighters as well and bombers from time to time.

Heh, we get alot of that from alot of people who think we are the VMF 214 black sheep (who finds its popularity through its commander, Gregory "Pappy" Boyington) But we are completely different. I find that many people dont recognize the black sheep 8th at all, but our squadron was one of the main reasons why new guinea was not overrun by the japs in early 1940. Some of our best pilots were involved in the flying tigers American Volunteer group that served in china. Our sister squadrons (Screaming Demons 7th, Flying Knights 9th) all composed of the 49th FG.

As stated before, we have great skill in the 40's, 47's and 38's and that is mainly what we train in, but that doesn't stop us from flying many other aircraft (fighters and bombers) We like to try and do it all!

Pay no attention to that 64Kills in the window.  He tends to post everywhere he can about anything that comes to mind :)

Good luck with the 8th

Lots of squads based on 5th AF groups.  I've got the 80th FS "Headhunters", Twinboom has the 39th FS "Cobra in the Clouds.  Savlan has the 475th FG "Satan's Angels" etc.

Lots of 38 drivers around too.  :aok

Been there.  Loved it.  Was thinking of retiring near Bozeman so I can do the Hole in the wall trail rides each year.

Sorry I missed out Sunday.  Mom had one of her "emergencies", so I packed the grandkids and wife in the car and ended up staying way longer than I planned on. =/

Hopefully, I'll hook a ride sometime this week.

Well for now, we are planning on the blue arena. As far as team, either bish or knights (cant stand the rooks sometimes)

Just go ahead and hop on our teamspeak about 3:30 MST (5:30 your time) and we can chat a bit, get to know each other.
