Er... what's the point of...

What's the point of LIMITING the P38G and F4U1 if 90% of all allied fighters are either type, and STILL under the limit?

The limit seems useless to me. Of about (what?) 120 planes they can still field 64 of these and have the rest all in TBMs. I thought the limit was to make the ratios more realistic?

Not a b*tch or moan, just a minor complaint about how that rule turned out...

Just increases the Emperor's glory when we destroy them in our planes of paper and fire...

Most of my squad was in F4F's. We were limited to 7 38G's.

And to make an accurate count of how many perked planes are being used is close to impossible. And the punishment could be more severe then the benefit of the extra kills. Common sense.

Looking at the logs the F4U-1 was over the limit of 32.

The 32 Max Rule was to keep these aircraft under 32 aircraft, It says nothing in my write up about historical numbers or anything like that Husky. Also they were required to fly 4 of the 6, so it was impossible without violation to fly both perked planes and all the rest in TBMs.

F4F-4 used     19
F4U-1 used     37
P-38G used     29
P-40E used     15
SBD-5 used     6
TBM-3 used     28

A6M2 used     114
A6M5b used    19
B5N2 used     11
D3A1 used     16
Ki-61 used         20
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Nef:  on the f4u1's please check the crash/re-ups at start.  I counted 5 of those (well 4, as on of the CHawks -- augered about 2 minutes in as he realized they were over the limit and upped a TBM as they were supposed to).

Also one of the f4u's were used by Falcon with no squad affiliation.  Either way with the 5 augers at start, I don't believe the allied side was in violation of the 32 limit.

I guess it goes to show the advantage of numbers out weighs the benefit of better aircraft.  We all had our last bottle of sake and notified the ancestors we were on the way, but the reunion never occurred as our A6M2's brought us safely home.  Maybe we can find the massacre we expected next frame.  Don't worry ancestors, we will bring you much honor and be together soon!

I like pie.  Pie charts of plane usage would be nice.
Time's fun when you're having flies.

I'd disagree.  Historically speaking, during this same period, the IJN/IJA forces in the area grossly outnumbered the USN/USMC/USAAC aircraft in the region.  There were very few F4U-1's and P-38's.  Most U.S. aircraft were F4F's and SBD's.  Historically, better tactics, better command and control and (arguably) better aircraft were the deciding factor in the later Solomon air battles.

Last night I saw plenty of F4U's and P-38's waste their aircraft by flying them poorly (with respect to tactical use, not stick and rudder skills).  Obviously just my opinion, but for whatever its worth...

I used the F4F's and P40's as Defense. And most of them either had a few perked planes in a detachment. Like the Unforgivin had an element of P38's. And the Clowns had a few F4U's and the rest were designated as Escort aircraft where I hoped they would give them an edge over axis advantage of greater numbers. Which seems like it worked seeing that we had 88 kills and Axis had 85 even though Axis had 40 more pilots.
