Slayr, if you don't get my point, let me clarify...


It's one thing to point out "You don't need to post 3 times"... It's another for Masher to post insulting Benny, calling him what's become a derogatory name ("Freeloader") and imply Benny's beneath Masher in some way.


When Masher starts tossing about insults, Doesn't matter what the subject is, MASHER takes a drop in my esteem, not the guy he's insulting.


THAT was my point. It wasn't related to Benny's original post.


EDIT: Not singling out Masher. That goes to ALL folks that toss around insults at the drop of a hat.

You are singling me out, at least admit to that much.

Also, I count 6 threads total, on this "identical incident".    I'm not the only one who used the term.   But, then again, you WERE singling me out.

You make a derogatory insult (and a common on, sad to say) about another forum member. I say "When folks say things like that I'm more inclined to lose respect for them" and you say you're "sick of it"?


Okay, if you're sick of losing respect in my eyes, stop making that insult. Case closed.

As for the other insinuation you've made, I think you're implying more than is at work.

If said Insult get's Benny to follow Forum rules, And keep accusations' of cheating and hacking between him and HTC (which we all should do) I'm all for it. I don't like everything that HTC changes or doesn't fix or do...but I'm not going to purposfully damage the reputation of the game, and thus the community, by casually blabbering about things which can damage said game. If you pay 14.95 a month, to fly all the cool events, FSO's, snapshots, scenarios', etc. that we have, and all the players' leave in droves because someone that plays in the H2H screams that the game is hacked, it's not trustworthy, someone can ruin the product for which you pay good money for...You're gonna get pretty damned insulting with that person, yourself.

But there's the crux of the matter, isn't it?

The community has been turning foul lately. It got really bad for a while (past year or so), and recently has become more civilized and decent towards new members, beginners, folks asking for help, and folks that just need the right guidance to become upstanding forum members.

Things like this turn back toward the "nasty times" this forum has had, and THAT more than anything else will drive people away.

The threads would have been locked/edited Monday if not sooner. They aren't really a problem. A stern but un-insulting post would have done the same job of teaching Benny how to do things (not to mention any punishment HTC doles out). The folks here have to try their best to set the good example to the newer folks.


This wasn't a "good example" -- but it was a good example of what not to do.


EDIT: Reading Frode's comment in the other thread, sometimes you just CAN'T help some folks. You'll know who/when/why that happens, naturally. However, you don't want to scare off third parties (others) reading your comments to the first party (Benny)

I STILL to this DAY help out new people.   But Benny is different, he spams the BBS.   I'm NOT insulting Benny, just sick of him, as is about 99% of the BBS.

With the younger players, peer pressure works best, Krusty.

And even a negative aplication can have a positive effect-If everyone were to just say"Oh yeah, oh yeah"...And he got PNG'd, he would just take it as HTC was out for him, and that he had the rest of the players' behind him.

But, when castigated, He realizes that not just the mod, BUT THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY frown upon it, and that if he wishes to be accepted, he should act to the community standard.

I do know what you're talking about, on another matter. The voting threads' were unmodded for way too long.
