New Blue laws coming?

68Hawk,
I too think it is wrong for the government to tell us what we can and can't say. It seems like they sit in Washington or wherever and because they want to keep their cushy jobs they feel like they need to make laws. With the sad state of health care and unemployment in this country you would think they would do things to help those thing instead of worrying about the b-word.
I use to cuss with the best of them but I got out of the habit and don't really care to be around it. In that case I try to go elsewhere so I don't have to hear it. I work in an industrial environment and there is a lot of that going on but I don't say anything to the ones doing it. It is their right to say what they want.
It is sad however that we have to put a box on the tv so our kids will not be exposed to it. I know they will hear everything at the schools but if they don't hear it at home it reinforces the fact that we don't feel it is acceptable language to us.
Yes I am a church going person.
Hope to see you in the cartoon skies

I can understand how one wouldn't want their child exposed to Pulp Fiction in all its dialectical marvel, but kids know much more than their parents think.  It's been my experience that parents keep their kids from some subjects because they don't want them exposed to it and don't want to discuss it.  Most of the time the kid already knows what's going on, and the parents efforts are only counter productive.

I can't say as I'm a parent (that I know of), but I firmly believe that children should be treated as future adults instead of small things that society always has to work around.  I've seen way too many kids that suffer from not a lack of structure, but a misguided and devastating structure overload that prohibits them from developing into their own person, leading to their douchbaggery when they finally strike out on their own.

As much as we want we can only shelter out kids to a certain point, and sometimes even that point is too much for their own good.  I believe we should show our kids the world in order to best prepare them to confront it.  Showing them a pure disney version of the world may be fun an make us feel nice, but in the long run the unbalanced presentation of such a fantasy will only be to their detriment.

My point before was, what's in a word?  Only the things that we assign to it.  If we held a different stigma over the words that I unfortunately can't type here they wouldn't be so bad.  Please don't think I'm telling anyone how to raise their kids, but I remember my parents getting bent out of shape (seriously) when I said "poop".  If anything this has only given me a dirtier mouth now.  Do they mind now when I use more colorful terminology?  Not enough to say anything, leading me to suspect that their enforcement of certain standards were more for the standard's sake, and what they thought was supposed to be appropriate of them as parents.  I wish in some respects like this that they could have been a little more independently minded.  I believe parents should make rules because they have a good reason, not because they think they're supposed to.

Just don't jump on your kids too hard if they crack a dirty joke.  If it's all in good fun it's a lot different than a derogatory slur.

Also, lets not forget when Cartman's V-chip malfunctioned because of his dirty mouth and saved the day!  Barbara Streisand!  @#$#%% should have censored that, sorry if she offends anyone.:D

At least he knows where the bathroom is in the white house, presumably.
