The hedges are gone now.

TT is a good example of "if it is working don't fix it".  Old TT was always full of GVs, fighters and bombers. So why did they had to fix it?

They didn't try to fix it, they updated the game, with much better looking ground objects. As a result it changed the game play in TT to the point you couldn't even get out of the spawn on the south base.

This was a video I made, of what it was like after they updated the terrain, when it was barren.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hepGDY-u1VA

It was unplayable and something had to be done, so that's when they added in all the extra barns , buildings and hedge rows. It looked great at first and TT afterwards had some of the biggest tank battles I'd ever seen in this game.

I guess after time wore on, people stopped playing there, because it was too hard to find the fight with all the hedgerows. I think this latest update is going to go back to easy spawn camping, but hopefully not as bad as the vid above.

Personally I think as I posted above, the best mix would be to have leve the buildings and barns that were there. Then add in some small groups of trees between the town and the spawn. That way you can't just sit in the town and kill guys soon as they spawn.

I have to agree, after that update it was ridiculous, you'd spawn out and die before you got your engine started.  I think what they have now is about as good as it's gonna get.

Tank town was always a place where you could find some "instant action". It was a nice change from flying from base to base or driving from a spawn point to a base.

When the first update came where the sherman was introduced the action was "too instant", survivability after spawn was too low. Then when the triple spawn was added with the spawns far from each other, TT became not enough "instant action", too far to drive to find the fight.  The map we had just before the sherman update was introduced had the right balance between "instant action" and survivability from the spawn point, with the ability to spawn camp the other guy with good positioning. Thats why TT was well used.

I have not been to TT in quite a while, I will check it out to see if the correct balance has been reestablished.

It was always jammed, but the few whiners got the attention of the powers that be..... unfortunately, instead of checking the data, they succumbed to the whiners and fixed it to DEATH.  Sorry HTC, this was a mistake.

Don't be so quick to knee jerk react.  The original tank town rocked.....the whiners didn't have to be in there...there are plenty of other places for GV fights.  Taking away the one that was so well supported was a goof.......

Thanks for listening.

If you mean the original "after" they updated the terrain, well I can tell you you never had to spawn out of A2 if you think that terrain was ok.

Yea then I can agree the one with the old school billboard trees was probably the funnest of them all. The trees gave much better cover from both planes and GV's and  a good fight was always in the town it's self.

The problem is, the game or terrain really did need the updates that were done. The game it's self looks much better now and it will likely atract more players because of that.

A sad side resualt was of course the hit on the GV end of the game, much more open ground and no where to hide from planes. TT was hit harder over all of course as we have found.

I'm sure it will get back to like it was before once enough trial and errors is done. I think they are close, but still needs a little more work IMO. The problem is everyone wants "instant action" and no matter what they say, most all want to spawn camp. Yet no one wants to be spawn camped.

So it's a tough ballence to get right IMO and will take a little work from the HTC team.
