A Few Questions Please
« on: August 10, 2008, 12:09:12 PM »
Hello,

1. Do "Assists" count toward your kills\flight stats?
2. If flying as a "Fighter" and I kill a tank using a bomb does that count toward hit percentage stat?
3. Where can I test my convergence settings (like against a wall - not a plane) to see the dispersion?
4. Other than points are there any enhancement to stats if flying a modest plane (BF109 F4\Ki-61\F4F etc. - taking more skill) than an urber plane (LA7\Spit14+16\Tempest)?

I get tremendous joy shooting down LA7\Spit16\Tempests etc. in crappy planes!

Thanks guys,

WT

Hello,

1. Do "Assists" count toward your kills\flight stats?
You get damage vs enemy points any time you get hits on an enemy plane.  That is 1/5th of your fighter rank.  That how stats are affected positively when you do damage but do not score a kill.
2. If flying as a "Fighter" and I kill a tank using a bomb does that count toward hit percentage stat?
No.  You can load and deploy bombs and rockets in fighter mode without affecting score in any way.  Hit percentage in fighter mode only scores hits on enemy planes as a "hit".  Any bullets not hitting an enemy plane brings your percentage down.
3. Where can I test my convergence settings (like against a wall - not a plane) to see the dispersion?
Type in the .target command.  A target will appear due North of you.  You can specify the range with the .target command like this - .target 600 to have the target 600 yards away from you.  Type .target 0 to turn it off.
4. Other than points are there any enhancement to stats if flying a modest plane (BF109 F4\Ki-61\F4F etc. - taking more skill) than an urber plane (LA7\Spit14+16\Tempest)?
No, that is not reflected in score/rank.  Only in earning perk points.

I get tremendous joy shooting down LA7\Spit16\Tempests etc. in crappy planes!

Thanks guys,

WT

Murdr,

Thanks very much.  That is VERY helpful!  That target feature is great.

Two more related question please...

1. When you see a target in front of you (in red) is the range measured in feet or yards?

2. Assuming you are closing on a much slower plane, at what point does the range indicator change, AFTER your range to target is reached or rounded to neared high\low value etc?

I know this is not clear.  I will elaborate.  Again, assuming closing fast and using "600" as the range to target, does it change to 600 AFTER you have reached that range to target (and target is 600 or less) or BEFORE when it is closer (rounding) to 600 than 800?

My apologizes on hard to read question (for me tough to explain).

Thanks again for your comments,

WT

If I remember correctly,

Altitude is in feet.  Icon range is in yards.  When the icon changes from 600 to 400, the con is at 500 yards.  When it changes from 400 to 200, the con is at 300 yards.

Icon distances are in yards.
2. Assuming you are closing on a much slower plane, at what point does the range indicator change, AFTER your range to target is reached or rounded to neared high\low value etc?
Beyond 1000 yards, it is rounded to the closest 500.  For instance 1,249 yards will display as "1.0K", and 1,251 yards will display as "1.5K".  Inside 1000 yards enemy icons display to the closest 200.  An icon display of 400 could be an actual range of 300 to 499 yards.

How long have you been playing?

Where do you live?

What's your favorite airplane?

Nevermind... I thought you wanted a few questions, not a few answers.   :D

BldEgl,

Concerning your mental defects, you should talk to me off-line and not go into detail here sir.

I've seen some strange and misplaced "IN" replies before, but this may just take the trophy.
