Thinkin on Marriage...................
« on: August 12, 2007, 11:23:59 AM »
some have opinions that didn't exist just a few years ago.................

http://mensnewsdaily.com/2007/08/11/is-it-unwise-for-a-man-to-marry-in-todays-climate-of-misandry/

Makes one think!

A LOT....................

It was just as destructive in the centuries past for a man to unwisely marry a horrible woman as it would be in 'today's misandry climate.'  Just pick smart and you won't have to worry about all that.:)

Good point TexasMom

So very few of us PICK SMART LOL...................

Heard it said pick your mate like you would pick the vehicle best suited for you, BUT anymore most people pick the vehicle that TURNS em on.

Often, perhaps due to TV and movies, we actually avoid the person best suited for us, meaning someone we like and can get along with, in favor of the HOTTIE.

Is this an impress your friends and neighbors thing?

This SEEMS to hold true for both males and females.

Guess too many of us listen to advertising people TOO much.

We are repeatedly told we NEED to be ALWAYS HAPPY!

Do this, or buy that, or go here, and above all spend MONEY, and we will be HAPPY!

There is a LOT to be said for learning to be CONTENT!

That HOTTIE may look GREAT but everything about em just may grate on your nerves!  Is that how you wanna spend your life?

And of course there are the HOTTIE'S that SEEM to have a NEED to prove to themselves and all around them just how HOT they really are by striving for attention/worship/conquest.

humans are polygamy from nature,
we are the only mammals enforced by religious restrictions to have only one partner for lifetime, and it's against human instinct look at cats, dogs, cows, monkeys....
From my experience mariage is a boring dinner that starts with the dessert, reaches the point where one kisses and other ofer his face

Having been married over 20 years I can say with a large degree of certainty that I would rather walk the streets of Iraq. Draped in an american flag screaming "Alla is a queer" then to ever do it again.

I can also say through experience that the man who wrote this song has obviously spent a considerable time being married. As more words are positively true then not

I took the liberty of placing in bold the lines I find in particularly to be true
Im an Ordinary man

 I'm an ordinary man,
Who desires nothing more than an ordinary chance,
to live exactly as he likes, and do precisely what he wants...
An average man am I, of no eccentric whim,
Who likes to live his life, free of strife,
doing whatever he thinks is best, for him,
Well... just an ordinary man...

BUT, Let a woman in your life and your serenity is through,
she'll redecorate your home, from the cellar to the dome,
and then go on to the enthralling fun of overhauling you...

Let a woman in your life, and you're up against a wall,
make a plan and you will find,
that she has something else in mind,
and so rather than do either you do something else
that neither likes at all

You want to talk of Keats and Milton,
she only wants to talk of love,
You go to see a play or ballet, and spend it searching
for her glove,

Let a woman in your life
and you invite eternal strife,

Let them buy their wedding bands for those anxious little hands...
I'd be equally as willing for a dentist to be drilling
than to ever let a woman in my life,

I'm a very gentle man,
even tempered and good natured
who you never hear complain,
Who has the milk of human kindness
by the quart in every vein,
A patient man am I, down to my fingertips,
the sort who never could, ever would,
let an insulting remark escape his lips
Very gentle man...

But, Let a woman in your life,
and patience hasn't got a chance,
she will beg you for advice, your reply will be concise,
and she will listen very nicely, and then go out
and do exactly what she wants!!!

You are a man of grace and polish,
who never spoke above a hush,
all at once you're using language that would make
a sailor blush,

Let a woman in your life,
and you're plunging in a knife,
Let the others of my sex, tie the knot around their necks,
I prefer a new edition of the Spanish Inquisition
than to ever let a woman in my life

I'm a quiet living man,
who prefers to spend the evening in the silence of his room,
who likes an atmosphere as restful as
an undiscovered tomb,
A pensive man am I, of philosophical joys,
who likes to meditate, contemplate,
far for humanities mad inhuman noise,
Quiet living man....

But, let a woman in your life, and your sabbatical is through,
in a line that never ends comes an army of her friends,
come to jabber and to chatter
and to tell her what the matter is with YOU!,

she'll have a booming boisterous family,
who will descend on you en mass,
she'll have a large wagnarian mother,
with a voice that shatters glass,
Let a woman in your life,
Let a woman in your life,
Let a woman in your life I shall never let a woman in my life.
Death is no easy answer
For those who wish to know
Ask those who have been before you
What fate the future holds
It ain't pretty

It's some kind of false macho bravado.  It permiates this board like a bad smell.
Some will fall in love with life and drink it from a fountain that is pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain

A lot of guys think this way. Until they see nice set of boobs, then they forget all about how evil women are.

Hummm Coming up on my 34th anniversary ... same women ... somewhere along the line we both fell out of lust ... and into love ... I suppose she's right ... we both found someone that we enjoyed being annoyed by ... for the rest of our lives ... and are going to stick around till we get even. :D:D:D
