boroda... I believe in god but am not religious...  I freely admit that I have no proof that my god exists.   I simply have faith that he does.

We have a lot in common....you and I.... our faith...

you really don't know that god does not exist but you have a fervent faith that it is so.

We both have a faith based belief system on god.   We probly preach about the same amount. on our beliefs...

you do it to look cool tho.  Or out of anger (comments on all religious types for instance).

one other difference is that my god gave me the strength to no longer be a slave to alcohol.   Athiesm tends to not offer much in the strength regard.

Plus... it is like so.....  70's to be an athiest anyway.

Oh, don't be silly Lazs.  That people don't believe the same thing you do doesn't make them posers, it just means that they don't believe what you do.  Stop trying to build yourself up by stepping on other folks.

Back to the question of the thread, I'd ask "What's the best, most satisfying, and useful piece of information you can give me?"

What do you mean by 'if"?

I'd ask him what he'd been smoking when he designed the portion of the human brain that creates the need for organized religion.

chair...  did you not read his post?   now tell me he was not "tearing down others"

I was merely stating the truth as I see it.   I have seen the exact behavior in every athiest I have talked to.   Maybe that is because... to actually bother to proclaim your athiesm is a huge leap.

most who doubt are content to simply say that they don't know... this is an attitude that I can find no fault with... agnostic... a reasonable and scientific way to be.

I admit my faith is not in the least reasonable and hope that I don't bother people with it too much.   It does seem to anger some tho.  even tho I rarely bring it up and never unless asked or unless it is a vital part of a conversation.

I claim no special knowledge and do not even claim that I am right... only that I believe I am right.

contrast that with athiesm.   with borodas brand for instance.

I admit that many of the trapings and ritual of religion seem odd to me but... they may be right for all I know... I doubt it but am sure that I will see soon enough.

I just find that athiesm has such a dishonest context to it... an agenda that is apparent but hidden.  A certain anger that is just below the surface..  It busts out once in a while "if god is so good then why did the crusades happen?" kind of thing.   translated it means... "why does god make me and mine suffer?"   Or... "why doesn't he show himself to me?"

I have gone from catholic (school) to athiest to agnostic to my current belief system.   I believe it is evolutionary.   I know what I was when I was all of those things.

I think an agnostic is really what most atheists really are...  I doubt that there is a very big group who are faith based athiests.

I really do believe that many so called athiests say they are just to get the reaction... good or bad.. depending on who they are speaking to.
