Bladder Cancer
« on: August 16, 2007, 07:02:23 PM »
Folks,
One day as I was getting ready to start my mail route, I went to the restroom. Blood in urine. I immediately told my boss, and called my Dr.
They wanted me to come in that day. Next, ultrasound. Came back abnormal. Off to Urologist, then Nephrologist(Kidney). He wants "Special blood test". Urologist wants CT scan w dye IV. Abnormal, Lesions on liver, Bladder shows"soft tissue growth" Back to Urologist-procedure day. Doc says "Once we start, I'll tell you in 2 seconds ", I get scoped, OMFG!! If you have ever been scoped, you know what I mean. For those that have not yet had the experience; They stick a lens that's around a quarter inch in diameter in your eurethra, past your prostate and into your bladder.
THE BURN!!!!
Dr. says there it is. A tumor. He says "I think we caught it early enough".
I go in for surgery on the 28th. I'm also participating in a trial with an investigational drug, that is intended to slow/prevent further incidents.
It's Not FDA aprroved, but has been used in other countries with mixed results.
Now I wait to see the Nephrologist and the GI doc for the Liver.
Men, if you ever even see 1 drop of blood mixed in with urine, get it checked asap.

That is harsh OZ, but the news sounds encouraging. It's the ultimate cliche from someone sitting on the sidelines, but hang in there man. Looking back, did you have any other symptoms?

My Dad found out he had bladder cancer the same way, they treated it quickly, and full recovery.  Been a number of years now, they don't  even bother checking him anymore.

I am sure you will have the same positive results.  Best Wishes.
