You seem not to know that the honorable pilots of WWII never climbed above 8k ;)

You don't go below 20K (except for landing ?)

pfffff!!!

to be more precise what I've seen was :
some guys at 20K over my base not engaging me when I was 12K below
and exactly the same when I was over their base.

Been noticing alot of alt monkeys lately too!

If you fly below 12k you will become fodder for the flocks of ever present p-51s.

Even if I happen to come upon a co-alt con, most seem to run away only to return shortly with an alt advantage.

Not sure if they are new guys or timid "aces".

I did however capture this shot of one of them running for an alt advantage.

My hard deck is generally 10-K.I look for the cherry pickers above that and bombers. But not so much bombers anymore for the lazer beam guns are getting rediculously to accurate, even though in real life they weren't that good, i guess HTC had to give the toolshedders something to defend themselves.

About three weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon, I decided to do a little research on the dreaded disease known as "AltMonkeyism".

I stripped down a P-47 and added 3 exernal fuel tanks, turning it into a flying gas can.

I first flew over the bishop front at 31K.  Very uneventful.  From one end of the front to the other I found little up that high except one set of B24's at 25K heading back to bomb our strats.

I then re-upped and flew over the rook front at 31K....I found:

3 sets of heavy bombers 25K+ (B-17's and B24's)
3 sets of heavy bombers 30K+ (B24's)
3 P51's (30K+)
2 Corsairs (30K+)
1 P47N (30K+)

I was jumped by the two corsairs and one pony who were at least 3 K higher than my 31K, and was killed.

I dunno...it could possibly be squeekers who will hopefully dissapear at the end of the month...but AltMonkeyism is a pretty sad disease to have.

Lol, I'm lucky if I get to 10K before I get stuck in....unless I'm on a buff run.....then I grab as much alt as I can....mainly cos I suck in bombers and need a lot of time to set up, grab guns etc...plus of course it gets interesting watching people trying to grab alt over a short space of time to engage.....and I do like a good giggle now and again...

That said, it takes a lot less time to skydive down to chute opening time before I get to the tower when I'm at less than 10k....lol...

I'm the worst pilot ingame ya know!!!

It's all unrealistic crap requested by people who want pie in the sky actions performed without an understanding of how things work and who can't grasp reality.

For most people:
AltMonkey = any con higher then myself

I have been called AltMonkey when flying at 8K, and I have been called AltMonkey by cons flying at 25K who just happend to be 2k below me :D

There are many reasons why people fly that high: Cowardice, not yet knowing what's a good alt to be at, using the strenghts of a plane (not everybody flies a La7 which shines below 10K), hunting buffs, eveading buff hunters, picking other alt monkeys, pretending to pick other alt monkeys, and so on...

If you are at 10K and see a con at 30K, you have much less to worry as if he was at 12K. If he attacks you, 9 of 10 times he will be way too fast for any successful attack

Conclusion: Fly what you like, when you like, and where you like. Don't worry to much about other people.

Agree with all above.  However depending on the plane alt is a must.  5K over the one to be engaged the best, be it at 5k, 10K, 15K and so on.
That said, I must add that rooks do exagerate, never found a rook below me, they are always higher.
