Earlier this week, the EU urged Texas to end the "cruel and inhumane" practice. Texas's governor said it was a "just and appropriate" punishment.

Darn Texans if only they would see the light....

So what would be a 'humane' punishment for someone that has committed such a crime?

There is nothing cruel about putting some sociopath out of his misery...  it is a mercy.

It is also good for the rest of us.   There is no way that an executed man can ever harm another human being.

The death penalty is the way that Texas stops the inhumane and cruel unlawful killing of innocent victims of a crime. Until people decide to stop killing others unlawfully the practice will not end. By removing those predators from society they are no longer in a position to kill again, ever. Perfect record on recidivism.

Until the death penalty's use is upped, it is not a deterant in any crime.  I looked it up a while back.  A tenth of a percentage of those guilty of murder are executed.

Would the death penalty be on the back of your mind if there's only a 1/1000 chance you'll be executed, adding ontop of the chances that you'll get caught?  Hardly.

Laser, your statement is patently untrue. Every one of those that have received the death penalty has been deterred from ever hurting another person again.

2 slight problems though..

1) You can't un-kill people.

2) HPD's crime lab sucks

If the State is going to kill people, they should be sure it's the right guy.
