So here is "the play maker"

Quite the stud. ;)
Here is Gordon's portrait picture from yesterday.(I was priviledged to get the contract to shoot all 5 football teams and Cheer, 276 total!)

In 3 weeks of practice, he has earned:
1st string Offensive Guard
1st string Linebacker (no doubt the hardest hitting kid on the football team, and that's from a neutral perspective on the subject!)
1st string Special Teams players (I pity the kid that gets the kick-off return ball if he runs to Gordon's side of the field...seriously...)

We're pretty proud of him as you can see. He's now 105 lbs (109 lbs with equipment)  With his weight, he just barely made this team. 1 more pound and he would have had to move up to the next higher weight group!

hopefully he will repeat his "Defensive MVP 2006" status this year again!

First game Sunday!

Loved playing football, but my body sure feels the toll. Torn ligament's in both ankels, dislocated both schoulders, fractured both big toes, fractured back and lost count of the concusions. That doesn't include the BS naging sprains but i think it was worth it. Only crap part was it killed any baseball future i had.

Sunday's final score Puyallup 18 Federal 6. (the 6 was garbage time in last 2 minutes of game)

This is how my son blocked all day:

First, slam into the defensive tackle:

Then lift him off his feet:

Then drive him back hard:

And drive him into the linebacker, taking TWO players out of the play :D :

(Slightly blurred images, I adjusted since this was the first set I took of this game.)

They are playing on artificial turf? Aren't the parents concerned about injuries? Knee and ankle injuries are easy enough on natural grass.

Nice hit, BTW.

That's nice of him to get a little training in and all, but when are you gonna get him started on a real sport, like hockey? :D

Artificial turf has come a LONG way.  The new stuff is soft and forgiving, It wont hold on to cleats like the "old" turf.  The new stuff is long plastic "grass" with ground up rubber worked in, neat stuff.  It feels like walking on a wrestling mat except the cleats can "tear out" whatever they are dug in to.  My boys (ages 8 and 12, 12 years combined playing experience) have been playing on the new stuff for years, no problems except the ground rubber material can get in their eyes if they slide on it face down (its always SOMETHING!).

BTW, the worst football injury my kids have dealt with: my daughter fell from the monkey bars while at my sons practice and broke her leg.  Go figure.:(

WHY YOU !@#$%^.........................

J/K, Hockey is probably one of the toughest sports, and strangely enough (NHL hockey) has fewer doping issues than MLB (maybe none)!  But.........DANG!  It's expensive!!!:O
