What's with USAAF drop tanks on F4Us?
« on: August 25, 2007, 01:33:35 PM »
Why was the correctly shaped drop tanks for the F4Us and P-38s changed to the AAF's 75 gallon tank?

Please revert to the old tank graphics for these types as the new graphic looks awful on the Lightnings and Corsairs AND is historically wrong and cartoonish.

The drop tanks in the previous revision were correct.

I'd agree.  They look awful hanging on a 38 as they are nose down too which would add an awful lot of drag that way.

it's bad enough that my 38G is now 600 pounds heavier :)

I'm wondering if they are supposed to be the later 110 gallon metal tanks also.

Doesn't the extra 600lbs just make them easier for you to crash?

;)

While they're fixing the DTs on the Hogs, can we PLEASE get Tiny Tims, and the centerline pylon 2000lb bomb on the 1D? The pylon ITSELF is on the model (check it out in skin viewer) so obviously there's provision for it on the model.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Actually, we only updated one DT shape. It's the same shape across all those planes in the previous version as well.  I didn't have time to get to the DT's for this release, as I was busy redoing ordnance. I've got correcting / updating DT's on my list for the next release.  BTW, any pics / or dimensioned drawing of DT's are always welcomed. :)
