Just wondering. I dont expect to be turning with Zekes or anything, but could I get half decent turning performance in the 190A5 or A8 by removing the outboard guns? I mean, like P51 area?

The G14's guns are on gondolas, though. So they create drag along with the extra weight. The 190's, on the other hand, just have the two extra MG151/20s in the wings. So, my initial comment.
If they were gondolas... no question, I wouldnt take them.

190A-5 2 guns 100% (139gal): 8584 lbs

190A-5 4 guns 100% (139gal): 8780 lbs

139 gal = 832 lbs
1 gal = 6 lbs
79 gal DT = 474 lbs
1800 7mm rounds = 117 lbs
500 20mm rounds = 243 lbs
120 20mm rounds = 72 lbs
1x 7mm round = 0.065 lbs
1x 20mm round = 0.486 lbs
1x 20mm (MG/FF) = 0.6 lbs
2x MG/FF plus ammo = 196 lbs
each MG/FF gun without ammo = 62 lbs
Total DT weight = 540 lbs
Empty DT weight = 66 lbs

Considering the addition of the MG/FF only adds 196 lbs on an 8500lb plane, that's a drop in the bucket. A full DT weighs twice as much.

Sure it'll take a little off your turn and climb, but below 15k you won't notice it as much as above 15k.

IMO, you should take the outboard guns. They're worth the small weight addition.

Oh, the above was the A-5, here's the numbers for the A-8.

190A-8 2 guns 100% (169gal): 9360 lbs

190A-8 4 guns 100% (169gal): 9682 lbs

190A-8 30mm guns 100% (169gal): 9891 lbs

169 gal = 1,014 lbs
1 gal = 6 lbs
30 gal aux tank = 180 lbs
79 gal DT = 474 lbs
950 13mm rounds = 171 lbs
500 20mm rounds = 242 lbs
280 20mm rounds = 136 lbs
110 30mm rounds = 143 lbs
1x 13mm round = 0.18 lbs
1x 20mm round = .485/.486 lbs (in/out)
1x 30mm round = 1.3 lbs
2x MG151/20 plus 280 rounds = 322 lbs
each MG151/20 outboard = 93 lbs
2x 30mm plus 110 rounds = 531 lbs
each 30mm = 194 lbs
More weight than A-5 (not counting aux)= 596 lbs
Total DT weight = 540 lbs
Empty DT weight = 66 lbs

Even without the outboard guns the A-8 is 600lbs heavier than the A-5. It's easily worth the weight for the outboard MG/FF, but as you can see the 30mms are very heavy. I wouldn't take the 30mms if you plan on turning at all. Use them for bombers, for BNZ, for HOing, or for ground strafing. Otherwise leave 'em off!

taking extra guns on the Fw190A-5 is usually not as useful as leaving them behind, the extra guns are MG/FF which have poor ballistics compared to the MG151 and the MG/FFs only get 60 rounds per gun.

120 extra cannon rounds, by themselves, aren't very effective. You can get kills with them, though. I've got 5-kill sorties in a 109E before using those same weapons and loadouts.

However, the benefit is still a nice one. They have worse trajectory, yes, but when they hit, they give you 4x20mm instead of 2x20mm. The powers are not equal, but that's almost twice the stopping power.

It's nice on snapshots, against bombers, and in general for giving people an enema of lead :D
