c.205?

It's a nice plane. It's like a 109F almost, but not so nimble. It turns fairly well, climbs great, has nice acceleration, but only decent top speed. It is a 1943 airplane, so you won't be able to chase down later planes. However, if you're close enough, the ammo load is very nice, and the manuverability is also pleasant. Don't push too hard or get too slow, as it WILL stall out, but other than that, fly it to see for yourself!

109F is a bad comparison, being very nimble and a superb turner. You could also say "205 is like a 262, just  not that fast"

Actually the C.205 is in regard to speed, climb rate & acceleration very comparable to a 109G-2 with gondolas (though the G-2 will still turn better even with gondies). However, the 205 has a much better high speed handling, in that respect it's more like a 190A.

I think of it as a 109F sometimes because of the engine and climb, but feel free to compare it to a 109G-2 instead

All I can say is watch out that if you mean to take a 205 don't  accedently click 202 instead.....

 I did this once and everyone wanted to jump on me prob thinking easy kill and i got 2 or 3 kills having to chase the last guy down then got a big surprise when I landed the kills and it said 202... Was wondering why it took sooo much ammo to kill the guys lol

Lusche, your avatar still haunts my dreams at night, and has caused me to miss several days of work due to hinding in corners screaming "Why!!" repeatedly.  


Anyways, the C.205 is a great plane, fun to fly, and great cannons.  I kills lancs quick.  Just don't get caught slow, like most planes.  Just doesn't have the speed.  Look at Sodas evaluations and compare climb and speed charts.

The 205 is actually a pretty poor turner....about the same as a P47-D11. It is a plane that most folks can fly "better" then its raw numbers would indicate. It's reasonably fast, climbs reasonably well, accelerates well and has 500 rds of 20mm...if you asked most folks which turns better the la-7 or C 205 I'd bet many would say the 205...yet the la-7 easily out turns it under all conditions.
{the la-7 turns better then a 109 G-2 and suprising close to the spit VIII}.

You need to bleed the wing tanks 1st on the 205, I'll also dial the rpms back to 2000 on climb out unless cons are actually in the sector. doesnt cost you much performance and with 500 20mm you'll usually run out of gas before bullets...

Fly it in the "vertical obliques" {think hi/low yoyo's} and don't be afraid to work the throttle. You need to keep out of plane with your con as much as possible since any time your lift vectors are aligned your losing angles vs most planes in AH.

Thoughts on fuel: Always take 100% in a 205. You can drop to 75% in a 202 if you like (but I'll still take 100% most of the time).

IMO the wing tanks are so small and almost under the fuselage (nor so much the wings) that it doesn't matter if you drain them first. I like to leave it on auto fuel select, and when I've run out of aux I should be in the fight. If I've used all my aux and I'm still not in the fight I lower settings to cruise until I am. I like leaving the fuel tanks on auto because it will switch between the main and the wing tanks, and if you get a fuel leak in the main (this has happened often enough for me to worry about it) you still have a FEW gallons in the wings to limp home. Not always, but enough.



Then again, I'm the kind of person that keeps the aux tank in P-47s for emergencys and RTBs. I don't enjoy running out of gas due to gas leaks in the main tank.

C.205 is a fine plane....it's main drawback is it's range....proper engine mangement important to get the most out of her legs...

Historically it could carry a DT under each wing (as could the C202 that we have in-game) but these are not modeled. I oh-so-wish they would be! This plane needs the extra range very badly!

In Operation Husky (the last scenario) the C2 was the shortest ranged plane of all axis planes. It was very limited in capability and range because of this. At the end it had to fly 6 sectors to get to the enemy, and it wouldn't have enough gas once there. Rearming multiple times for more gas was common in that scenario.


Droptanks on this plane would be MOST welcome.

"In Plane" means that the wing line of your plane more or less equals the wing line of the guy your fighting. This is a bad thing if your plane doesn't turn as well as the other guys. Basically each second your "in plane" he is gaining angles, E or both....

If we look at a "T" as representing the pure vertical or horizontal this is how many pilots fight in AH...they are turning or looping. The "X" represents game play in the vertical "obliques". Your never flat and never in the true vertical for any sustained period of time. This is (IMO) a true cornerstone of good E and angles fighting...it's also the toughest to judge. So when your locked into this type of fight your always on guard for the reversals, scissors, barrel rolls etc. When you add quality throttle control the con has an even tougher time since you can vary your E state on the downhill and uphill legs...most of the great hog/Jug drivers live in the "X" zone...they are never in the true vertical or "flat" except under specific circumstances....

This comes into play in "same plane" fights as well, if you go to the training forum TC has some interesting comments on this specific to a recent KOTH duel...
