Nah, its a thing of the past. No one using it now.  On the floppies, they used to format an extra track at the end of the disk.  DOS disk copy would not read it since I think back then it was only looking for 40 and later 80 (am I right?) tracks but their software would look for it and thats how it verify the copyright.

On a hard drive, and that was done by the early boot sector viruses a lot, they would replace the boot sector with the virus code and move the original at the end of the drive and mark it as bad so that it would not get over written.  Virus code run first on boot and then it loaded the original so the computer would start.  Some copy protection was done this way but anyone that had a copy of Norton Utilities or any other disk tools could get around it.

Since H2H is gone, does that mean we will have a new server for the MA?

H2H was a client host thing, not on HTC server.  so no freed up server for us to use.

Banning a MAC address is the way to go for the reasons you stated.  You'd need to replace your network card if you'd want to circumvent the ban.

You really need some serious psychological help and Aces High is not the place to seek that help.  I'm not joking, you do have some serious mental issues that need to be addressed.  Threatening murder over a game is silly and just a sign that you've lost all touch with reality.

Oh and...

Oh yeah, I can see it now...

1) Military base with internet access provided by the military.

2) Obtain MAC address for a network card.

3) Have every law enforcement agency in the United States break down your doors.

Many systems consider obtaining a MAC address a network attack and will bring every available legal hammer on down your head.

Besides, MAC addresses are not routable. You have to connect directly to the computer to obtain it's MAC address. It can be done, but it's not as easy as it sounds.

Most of the people you meet in life are like slinkies. Pretty much useless, but still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

Errrrrm....as I understand it, every peice of equipment connected to your pc, that you use to connect to the web with, has an individual mac address (16 character unique identifier). If you connect through a router, nic card etc, the mac address is made available to the isp you connect to - so in theory you would not have to create alarms on any monitoring solution you have. Then again, I may well be wrong.....lol.....that wouldnt be too unusual for me.....only been doing this 7 years or so.......

I am for H2H returning but if they do as last time and dont take enough time to ensure the problems dont return then why bring it back so soon.
