Sadly the schools are getting to the point they have no choice but to do stuff like this. With all the hyper-protective parents out there now a days, and the sue everyone mentality in this country, a kid comes home with a band aid on their knee from falling down playing tag, the school is going to get sued for millions. What makes it even worse though is the idiot judges that allow those lawsuits to even be heard in court.
It's really no different than the issue up in New York or New Jersey...can't remember which one. Anyway they banned metal bats for little leauge baseball because they say the players can hit the ball too hard with them. Some kid got beamed in the head by a baseball. He was playing second base as I recall. Metal bat vs wood bat really doesn't matter if you take the shot to the head by the ball. But by all means lets blame it on the metal bats, not the kid who wasn't paying attention to the game and watching the ball zooming towards his noggin. Wasn't his fault he got clobbered. Yeah right.
I know when I got hit in the head by a baseball my coach hit at me, I deserved it. Infield practice and I was looking into the stands trying to find my girlfriend. Coach got pissed that I wasn't paying attention and sent one my way. POW!!!! Right in the head and knocked me out cold. Got home, told my dad what happened and he laughed at me. Told me I'd better pay more attention to what I was doing on the field. End of story.
