A lot was discussed a few months ago in this thread.  Check it out.  I've (of course) started it in the middle where I posted, but a lot of people have a lot to say about their favorite parts of the US.

It really depends on what you guys like to do / see / experience and in what time of the year you are going on your honeymoon (grats btw!).


Personally i'd recomend you look into:


1 - Japan.

They have *the* best deal for tourists. One train ticket that you can use to travel through the ENTIRE country up to 21 days. Works also for many ferries, buses and other means of transport. You can literally visit most of the country's cities and cultural heritage sites in 2 weeks (though i'd recomend a full 21 day stay).

The food is AWESOME and most of the country will understand english and in most areas even the street signs are in Japanese and English.

I suggest March -April- May as best times to go (cherry blossom time!).

I've been there myself twice and every time was an incredible experience.

2- Puerto Rico

Not many people know but this island has the best seafood ever available in the caribbean and has some of the best beaches you can relax in. If privacy in a beach and lots of lobster is what you two want, visit the island :)

I've had a few friends Honeymoon at the various resorts in the area surrounding DisneyWorld.  Obviously there is the themepark and others nearby, but from what I'm told, the resorts are quite nice.

Vegas is a great idea.  

It really depends on what you would like to see/do.  What time of year would you be going?  There's a great variety of climates and things to do in the USA.

Yer bastige! :) I got bored of being gay. Being well dressed and having an impeccably tidy flat soon loses its novelty. Besides, I discovered that nurses are fun so I'm marrying one. Good to see ya mate (you got mail).

I think Txmom perhaps has it right about excessive traveling - I'm ok with it, but my fiancee has said she doesn't want 'people telling us where we need to be and at what time' etc. We are used to independent travelling and like to plan our own holidays.

I also suspect that since I have left most of the wedding planning to her, she is going to be more stressed than me on the day and will need to relax. I'm just planning the stag do and coming up with honeymoon ideas - easy... I think :).

I've never been to America and would like to find out what all the fuss is about. :) The other half has been a couple of times to Florida, and ever since she swam with dolphins over there has wanted to repeat it. We'll be travelling late July-August or maybe delay it to September to get a good deal.

I'm sure finland is nice, but we've never visited the main central European sights. :)

I'm not too bothered about a cruise unless it is somewhere unusual or perhaps a tall ship cruise. I spent a week on a ship around the Carribean Christmas 2000 and have seen many of the places. The Med is different though, might look into that.

Thanks for all the tips and the link to the other thread. Anymore tips would be welcome.
