Kills that don't count towards rank

What are they?

Kills in a gun ship or field.

Ack guns or ship guns do not count towards rank and you don't get any points/perks for them.

Killing gv's in when not under "attack" scoring.

Also no air kills in your bomber count towards your score, perks yes though.

I'm not sure if kills on anything but aircraft are counted when scoring as Fighter in a fighter/attacker.

"Hits" scored by guns on objects in a plane scored as a Fighter are misses when calculating the hit percentage as well.

Thanks for the prompt reply, but according to a squaddie he hasn't done any of that and he had a handfull last tour, so what else might cause one of these?

What if you shoot someone down but die before they do?

You definately need to stay alive longer than your victim. In this situation the nearest friendly would be given a "proxy" kill.

You wouldn't get a "You have shot down ____ #_" message for that, though. It doesn't count in the text buffer, scores, or anything when you die or bail before your prey.

Proxy kills count toward rank if you get them in the appropriate category.
A proxy kill of an enemy plane  while being in a fighter increases your fighter K/D, thus directly counting for rank purposes. It just gives you no perks and no "damage" score points.

Shooting or bombing me (Lynx) will not help score or perkies.  It will prove counter productive for your future sorties.  That is all
