Two guy squads should be required to become at least 3 guy squads over a certain period of time to maintain a squad status. That Idea might not stick BUT........

ONE GUY IS NOT A SQUAD and all one guy squads should be taken off the roster IMO.

What do you think

I think I am the last active member of my squad in AH.
I also think I could handle anyone in your squad.

There is a dot command for that. I think it's .showjoin 0  Many of us were experiencing pop-ups when the kids were on their summer break. I helped who i could but it did get aggravating.

Yeah I guess in part. I'm a base taker in a base taking squad. I was proud to be part of a team that could take 140 bases in one camp (90)  In 91 we took less but only because we were able to attract like minded individuals and a few scabs. So it's true AKDogg, without the 1 man squads our rank would increase. I suppose I shouldn't feel that way about a game but like my softball league, we work for it. Plus it would be nice to catch up to you guys :)

Dedalos, no need for that please. I'm a team player on and off the field.  I enjoy helping people in a productive manner. The name T00L fits me.

On another note: If I ever wanted to start my own squad I think I'd have a wrench, hammer or ratchet  in there. No back hoe's please. For that matter no hoe's at all, they're to much trouble. Especially if you step on one.

No.
.showjoin works only for gunner join requests. Not squad popups.

If HT allows 1 person squads ... then yes ... it is a squad.

It's always the "rank" thing that gets people's panties all twisted up.

A "ranking" softball team is a whole lot different than a "ranking" squad in Aces High.

The variables used to "rank" in Aces High can be screwed with and the way to to tweak the variables is far too easy ... it's commonly called "milkrunning".

Achieving a "rank" within a softball league ... well that is more cut and dry ... the variables to achieve rank are the exact same for all those involved ... the difference is only in the players on the team. There is no way to tweak a double into a triple in softball ... there is no way that you can play an official game with a full team on the field vs a team that only has 5 players.

The fact that your squad captured 140 bases in one tour speaks volumes in the milkrunning category.

Back in the Aces High 1 days, I belonged to one of the most prolific base taking squads in the history of this game ... they are called the M.A.W. ... and there was no way in he-double-hockey sticks that we could capture that many bases in one tour. Ya wanna know why ? ... because there were other large squads that would put up a tenacious fight for any base that we wanted to take. This also worked the other way ... our arch-enemies were the Arabian Knights ... another prolific base taking squad ... we would do anything it took to prevent them from capturing a field. We are talking 30 vs 30 ... 40 vs 40 squad furballs that raged on for hours. Another squad that fought and flew like pitbulls ... USMC. No one ever looked at the "squad" ranking to see who the "best" were ... ya just knew who they were by what they did.

Aces High II base taking squads ... pffft ... from what I have seen and experienced ... for the most part ... nothing but a bunch of hosers.

Any type of resistance, and they disappear to try and find some other undefended field that they can capture with minimal resistance and then they back slap each other thinking they are a l337 base taking squad.

Rank in Aces High means squat ... you may have a high ranking squad but let me assure you ... there will be a squad that doesn't rank as high and is probably better than your squad.

I flew for the MAW too. In fact I was their first recruit and responsible for many of the tactics used to help us become one of the best base taking squads at the time.  Scores were not our primary objective but it was nice to see us listed close to the top for our efforts. What pride you take in being MAW I took to the A8's.  If 40 would have had me i would have come back. I truly miss those days.

Being a base taker I also revere the AK's. When I came back in June they were one of the squads I looked at but felt the A8's being smaller and newer fit me better.  We fought for those bases, no milk running involved. Btw, I am not the cause of their success, I'm just one more guy with the same mindset helping achieve a goal.

I'm not sure we ever counted but back then 140 would'nt seem impossible for the MAW

Well, #4 doesn't apply here.  No athletics needed for AH.

And the issue I see with the other three descriptions is the word "small" or "smallest".  If we go with that idea, the issue isn't the 2 or 3 man squads.  Those meet the definition of squad shown above.

The issue would be all of the squads that don't meet the "small" rule.  The squads at fault would be the "moderate" or "large" squads, which aren't even squads at all since they fail to meet the "small" or "smallest" requirement.

So maybe we shouldn't be griping about the squads that have only a few members, since they've obviously got it right.  We should be rising up together to vanquish the real problem in AH!  Lets remove all squads from the roster that don't pay attention to the definition!  Vanquish all moderate or large squads!

I think a reasonable # would be 5 members at the top end.  Any squad larger is unnecessary.  And don't be thinking it's ok to cheat the system either!  Forming several squads with similar but slightly different names is just a way to have a bigger squad while appearing to be several smaller squads.  What bunk!

Large groups have an unfair advantage over the smaller squads.  How is a two man squad going to compete with a 30 man squad?  I wonder why they don't televise sports events showing a two man team versus a 5-10 member team playing football, basketball, volleyball, or even horseshoes?

The large squads are the issue!

(BTW- I am a member of a two man squad.  Twice it has temporarily risen to three men, but then come crashing back down to two again! *Sigh...*)

OK ... so what handle did you fly under with the MAW ?

140 bases would have been a very serious undertaking with all the other squads that flew back then ... I honestly don't think that it would have been possible. If you remember ... we would fight for hours to try and get 1 field ... sometimes we got it ... sometimes we didn't. And when we got the capture, it was so much sweeter.

Had we taken the attitude that most AH II squads have ... after the 1st 10-20 minutes of confrontation ... we would have moved onto another field hoping that no one would notice us ... maybe then we might have reached the 140 mark ... but that was not the MAW makeup.

Don't really want to poke you in the eye, but there is no way that you fought for every one of those 140 captures.

I dunno about that.

I've seen some pretty good sticks that sure as hell could qualify as a one man squad.

I've seen a couple of good sticks that were better then some entire squads LOL

Then again I seen some squads so poor they shouldnt be allowed to be squads either.

The only problem with dedicated basetaking squads. Is they tend to primarily go where defenders arent or are few.
Hence the reason they are able to take so many. :p
