Request for P38 info.....
« on: September 08, 2007, 06:04:41 AM »
New to skinning, and I wanted to make a non USAF P38 skin (theres already so many USAF ones).
Maybe something from the RAF (can't think of anyone else that used em). So can anyone help me out by providing a few pics and details of a RAF P38? Tried googling but always end up with USAF markings. Thanks in advance:aok

Only non-US Lightnings to see operational use were F-5 recon birds, and HTC has said no recon skins.

Only non-US fighter version was the RAF's Lightning I, which not only never saw operational use of any sort, its also a totally different model, both visually and FM wise, from any P-38 version we have.

Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

I have decided to settle for any P38J flown by the 459th FS, 80th FG, based in Chittagong, India also known as the "twin tailed dragons".
Any pics, drawings or links to info can help. Resources seem scarce on Google. Whilst I can find skins made by people for "other" sims I cant seem to find a single genuine picture with any credible info.

Thanks in advance.:aok :aok

Nationalist China received a mix of 15 P-38Js and Ls along with a similiar mix of F-5G and F-5Es in late '44.  The ultimate fates of these aircraft is unknown.

I've seen photos of Chinese Recce 38s, but nothing of gun nosed 38s.

I'd make sure there was photo support before I'd do one if I were you.

I'm not positive that what they got wasn't postwar hand me downs.
