Tracers
« on: September 12, 2007, 10:23:23 PM »
I never got this but apprently it's how it is... anyways I was wondering if we could have a way to turn tracers off on bomber guns, and maybe other things as well such as the smaller guns on vehicles.

Thoughts... comments?

I am not disagreeing, but what purpose would this serve?

your bomber drones still fire them though.

The way I see it, when most people try to attack a bomber they either quickly dive at it or (and this is where it's relevant) try to sneak up on it, so long as they don't see tracers most assume they haven't been spotted. But if you could start shooting at the plane and they were still at a fairly level cruise it might increase the chances of destroying it.

That and in my own opinion I find that nine .50 Cal. turrets blazing bullets tends to make it much harder to see the target and actually aim at the plane rather then leading a massive amount of yellow lines into it.

The same go's for the GV's for the most part, that the tracers can become annoying when trying to aim. Plus it would help keep yourself hidden while fireing, especially when it comes to things like Ostwinds and Ground Guns, when giant 37mm lines start flying in the air, everyone in a mile radius and there brother know where you are.

Yes, but it does not work GV's either, and as already mentioned, bomber drones. Which is the main purpose of this thread.

true, but large caliber weapons would still be visible the way a 75mm round is, due to the glowing hot 10 pound peice of metal that it is.

True but I did say the smaller guns on them, which means everything besides the main turret (for tanks anyways). And if we can have invisible 40mm bullets on the HurrD, why not invisible bullets for the 37mm's on GV's?

YEs this would be nice... I can hit cons trying to sneak up my 6 in any bomber at 1K but when your drones fire off tracers and you have them set to off it's kind of a pain...

If I have tracers set to off my drones should also.

Some large cal. tank rounds now and back then use(d) tracers (now its common, back then, it was not). The once that doesnt, the only chance you see them fly is directly from behind due to compression shock of air (edit: or MACH cone air flow) , and only if you dont blink your eye while shooting. Otherwise, totally invisible.

Actually I'd like if we could set tracers on and off for different guns on all aircraft. For e.g., I'd like to leave a 30mm tracer on but disable the 13mm ones.

Yeah I'd love to have the option for tracers on/off for each set of guns too.

Also, having historically colored tracers would be nice to have. Perhaps even the choice between nighttime and daytime tracers which some nations used.

Matt

P.S.
One can wish :D

Well my first choice, as a hotfix, would be to have smaller, clearer and actually glowing tracers. Currently (I know old gfx still) they dont really look like tracers.

I fly the 234 a lot (with no drones) and have tracers turned off...not that anyone could catch me...but if they did I would either:

#1: Dive
#2: Use RATOs
#3: Dogfight them (Yes, turnfighting)
#4: use rear guns
