SEA BEE ROADS TO VICTORY IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR

During the Second World War, the Sea bees performed now legendary deeds in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters of Operation. At a cost of nearly $11 billion and many casualties, they constructed over 400 advanced bases along five figurative roads to victory which all had their beginnings in the continental United States. The South Atlantic road wound through the Caribbean Sea to Africa, Sicily, and up the Italian peninsula. The North Atlantic road passed through Newfoundland to Iceland, Great Britain, France, and Germany. The North Pacific road passed through Alaska and along the Aleutian island chain. The Central Pacific road passed through the Hawaiian, Marshall, Gilbert, Mariana, and Ryukyu Islands. The South Pacific road went through the South Sea islands to Samoa, the Solomons, New Guinea, and the Philippine's. All the Pacific roads converged on Japan and the Asiatic mainland.

What about a map designed to start the three continents at opposing corners. Instead of having bases already built the TG's have to steam to islands in the center of the map and build.

-All countries start with bases around their factories and cities.
-more ports at the start of the game.
-TG's are pre-determined to either build air bases and/or vehicle bases.
-command of a TG is based on seniority, rank and/or being a CO in a squad.

PRO'S

-Naval battles ship to ship would increase.
-Furballing increased ship to ship.
-Furballing increased at ideal locations for bases.
-GV battles increased at ideal locations
-more decisive routes of battle
i.e. higher concentration of opposing forces even with lower numbers online
-puts bombing in perspective
i.e. players would have to utilize the smaller bombers too.
-increase in attack and ground support roles.

In short I think this would add more of a tactical dynamic to the game and increase fighting time even with less players on line. Players would have to utilize more of the aircraft and vehicles that are available to them in order to succeed.

Let me know what you're thoughts are. Give me some feed back and lists of con's. I really would love to see this happen.

Ok, I just did a quick google search on "Seabee" and from what I've read they are men who build bases? If this is correct then we can't have this in AH2. The bases on the map are 'programed in' so you can just destroy and resupply them. I'm not an expert on the map making stuff but I do know you can't add a base to a map in the middle of a war on AH2. You can however, if you have the map editing program, make your own maps to send into HTC to use online.

Hopfully someone who knows more on the map editing stuff omes along to explain this better.

good point. But if supplies are brought to a base it helps the buildings, ord and so on pop back up. Maybe the bases to be built would just be in a dormant state until the TG arrives with the supplies. They could be programed in and supplied to activate them. Just a thought.

How about having neutral bases to begin with?

For example on a map with, uuuhh, 80 bases each country has 5 or so to start up with. Then its a matter of getting up to speed, grabbing land. Of course some initial bases should have an enemy neighbour to have early fights.

Eventhough I am cured of this kind of egoshooter, whats wrong with the concept? It made up for lots of action and tension.

Something like this used to be in Air Warrior, although IIRC there were only 3 neutral bases.

The original post is a neat idea, but I don't think it would work in a multiplayer game. I wouldn't want to sit around waiting for the initial CVs to steam into range for the engineers to build me some bases to fight from.

I think we should keep the focus in the air...

This suggestion along with silly subs etc takes the focus away from what Aces High really is in my view.

Pri one should be to update older models that we have and then add new planes at a ration of 5/1 vs any ground stuff.

Nobody can argue that base building was not an integral part of the war machine. Read the first post. I feel that aces high is trying to be a WW II simulator. This would add a hint of realism and authenticity to the game. I posted pros earlier. I feel that this would focus attention on strategics not just rolling base after base after base.

I like the original post. I think it would be a great concept to add in it would make it alot harder and I think that if would force teamplay on everybody which I believe would be a good thing. The think I like most about this is that it would have some high bombing going on which one squad could do while another could take off from another airbase or cv and escort. That just makes it more realistic to me. My opinion though. But great post
