Kerala and its fascinating cities with the unique mingle-mangle of colors, cultures, religions, people and awe-inspiring natural landscapes, is truly the abode of God and that is why Kerala Tourism  is so pleasurable. Kerala cities have distinct characteristics that distinguish them from the cities of other states of the country.

A tourist is bound to have a different feeling when one steps in this God’s own country. The cities, though well developed, are devoid of the flashy glitz and glamour of other metropolitan cities; they have a serene ambience that touches your soul.

Blessed by bounteous nature, the cities of Kerala offer a peaceful stay to its residents and an ideal getaway for exhausted travelers. The cities reflect the culture and the life-styles of the Keralites. Its amazing to note how the Keralites have still adhered to their age-old culture and values without compromising with the modern developments.

One would love to feel the difference once you visit these cities during Kerala Tourism as Kerala speaks about their glorious past and interesting present.

Whan talking about the cities in Kerala Alapuzha is a must mention as Alappuzha or Alleppey is an entrancing region of awe-inspiring natural beauty with the Arabian Sea on the west and a vast tangle of cerulean lakes, serene backwaters and freshwater rivers, is usually referred as the Venice of the East. It has developed as a major backwater tourist centre and is renowned for its pristine beaches, exciting boat races, romantic houseboat holidays and coir industry. The Town was founded by Divan of Travanacore - Raja Keshawadasan in 1762. Owing to its propinquity to the sea, the town of Alappuzha previously called Alleppey, has enjoyed a significant position in the nautical history of Kerala.

Alappuzha backwaters host the illustrious snake boat races every year in the month of August. The gigantic snake boats known as Chundanvalloms race against each other to win the prestigious Nehru Trophy. Hordes of people flock to Alappuza to witness the exciting and spectacular vista of hundreds of skilled oarsmen rowing these boats at a breath-taking speed in the lakes of Punnamada and Chambakkulam. Another noteworthy race is the Payipad Boat Race, which begins from the 'Onam' festival day and continues or three days.6
