When the history comes alive in the game
« on: September 15, 2007, 12:57:04 PM »
Was looking at a film and thought, "I've seen this picture before".

Now that the film viewer shows other skins it sure is nice when a couple of 80th 38s can be out and about and it shows up on film.  Oboe in the lead 38J Jandina and I'm in the 38L Miss Cheri.

I remembered this shot of two 44th FS 38s when i saw the film

Sure thought this looked about the same down to the water and the islands.  And the two 80th skins add to the history feel. The new DTs don't look quite right though :)

Truly spectacular.

Get waffle to work on those DTs, and we'll be golden!

Very nice Guppy! :aok

One suggestion:
you should take the screenshot from a greater distance, and then use the zoom-function to make the planes look bigger. That will give you the same perspective as in the real photo - in your screenshot the vert stab looks very big, and the second P-38 looks to far away.

They are too far away.  While the pic shows the correct angle of view, look at the hstabs.  See how far forward it is?  In the other pic the hstabs are nearly inline with each other.

Sorry, I have a critical eye for formation, distance and positioning.  ;)

I just made a quick offline demonstration with virtual Waffle - he is not very cooperative, as he just wants to turn left all the time...

Both pictures is from the exact same spot in the film viewer, I only altered the zoom options.
Notice how perspective adjustment seems to alter the distance between the planes, and the size of the closer plane parts - the vertical stab.
You should be able to come closer to the real photo's perspective.

And, as Fugitive stated, who is flying - both P38's looks intact! :)

Beautiful!   It was so great to be a part of a two-ship formation again.
