How can it be turbo superchargered when the exhaust goes straight out the stacks?

Milo a turbine compressor can be belt driven as well. It's still a snail style centrifugal compressor.

Agh yes the centrifugal compressor just like the original Merlin's supercharger but when I see turbo I 'read' exhaust gas driven.

I beleive you are right MiloMorai. Turbo Supercharging is strictly an exhaust driven snail style centrifugal supercharger. The word turbo determines the way the supercharger is driven.
