Just finished reading "The Few" by Alex Kershing yesterday and was channel surfing, lo and behold the MGM HD channel was running BoB movie.  Still a great film to watch, brought back memories of sitting in the on post theater at Wright-Pat AFB as a kid watching it as a new release in 1969.  :aok

I would love to see a Band of Brothers style story of the Eighth Air Force.  My only problem is that I know the CGI guys would get carried away...

The capability is there to do great lighting, shapes, maps, and with a bit of math they could plug in actual airspeeds, g-loads, etc.

Wouldnt have to be about the whole months long affair .. they could just pick a single day and follow the pilots thru it, say .. a few days before the Luftwaffe switched to London, when Fighter Command was on the brink of extinction. .. the issue was very much in doubt, and the Luftwaffe just kept coming.

yep, would end up starring Ben Affleck, Tom Cruise and Keannu Reeves. Costarring Jessica Simpson as Petunia.

A classic love story where American Volunteers single handedly win the Battle of Britain, all the while caught up in a nasty love  triangle.

I agree with Xargos, nothing wrong with it as it is.

:rofl :rofl thats so true. Hollywood are great at bending the truth..look at how accurate "Braveheart" was.

But its a fantastic film, I brought it the other week.

william wallace went through traitors gate and was hung, drawn and quartered with his body parts put on display at various locations throughout the land.  I forget whether that part made the film.

 :pray  no remakes of BofB.

If they remade the Dambusters, would Gibsons dog still have its real name?

Tom Hanks?  Steven Spielberg?  Are you kidding?  Please, not another feel-good-lack-of-moral-ambiguity-big-hurrah WWII movie.

If Clint Eastwood did the remake, it might be good.

It is the artistic license taken by the directors that mucks up movies like Pearl Harbor and Flyboys.  They have no interest in being faithful to history or even physics.  CGI has great potential to recreate history on screen.

There is also the market to consider.  Movies like Battle of Britain and Tora! Tora! Tora! were made for an audience that remembered the actual events.  The problem is an embarrassing lack of historical knowledge in the movie viewing demographic, especially here in the United States.

For the record, the original BoB is a great film.  A very difficult act to follow.
