The B25H is a wounderful target & outstanding bate, and you can't have enough of them up there :)

I've turned into a huge fan of the B25 :)

Fly near a base and watch everyone chase you while your buddies pick them off your rear.

Seems like if I fly near a furball in one of these, every enemy decideds I am their primary target and comes after me.  I'll have to start gettin screen shots of the conga lines.

Extended out, came back in and suck a destroyer with about 4 rounds from 3k out. CV respawned so I turned for home. Over 8 perks awarded and I was tickled pink with that sortie.

This is my favorite sight for the B25.  4k bottom of the vertical white line. 3k use the 3 staggered dashes. 2k use the 2 dashes, 1k use the single dash. Under 500 use the center dot.

A couple of questions:

1. At what altitude are these markings calibrated for? Are you skimming the ground? Are you 2000 feet up when firing at a target 4000 away?

2. How does one know when a target is 4000, 3000, or 2000 away?

Thanks,

Is there a transparent alpha image for this gunsight?

Also, what is the convergence range used, and what is the head position? How does dive angle play into aiming?

Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

1.Sealevel, or close to it.  Alt doesn't seem to make a lot of difference as long as your fairly flat. B25h does NOT like a steep approach with a lot of speed buildup.

So sight was designed as flat as possible. Perfect it may not be, close it is. I'd say I'm probably 1.5 - 3 k most runs.

2. Practice, practice, practice? Vehicle icons pop at 2k, so if your ready for them thats a pretty easy one. IE I'll already have the dot sitting on the 2k mark. When I see the icon pop I shoot.

Longer range I've mostly used against bigger targets. Level, autopilot, max zoom guess at the range. Pop one off, note impact point. Ok thats too far, try now, hmm just short. After a while you get a "feel".

Same thing for attacking ships. Use lowest point, keep firing till you see the waterspout either very close this side of ship, or over. Then adjust as you continue to close the range and fire. It seems to fire about 5 shots total if your first shot is close to the 4k range. That will vary some according to plane speed of course. But on a typical ship run I now just hold the button down and adjust the sight as I close the range. Rather than fireing each shot. There too your mileage may vary.

I'd suggest practice on your own task group offline till you get a feel for it.

Sorry, no.

Although someone who is really good with gunsights could make one I'm sure.

This is just a plain jane vanilla sight with no extras. However feel free to use it or abuse it as you see fit.

Convergence is maxed at 650, head position is default.

Dive angle seems to have very little effect on impact point. But please do your own homework and let me know the results.  :)

Its been my experience, that the 75mm is SO big, SO fast,  and shoots SO far, that little things like convergience, dive angle, speed, head position, convergience, really don't seem to have a lot of effect on it.

However, if you can prove me wrong, by all means feel free.

All I really did, was use the .target x command to set various ranges.
Then made a sight, and tested it. Adjusted and tested about 6 more times.
Until I had a sight that seemed reasonably accurate for the use which I put it to.
Not perfect, but better than the osty gun sight, or the default one.

I did my best to keep it simple, hence the

system with no #'s.  I really never felt I'd get this many questions about it.
I felt like it was pretty much self explanitory.  Shrug

All "I" can say, is that it works for me, that it has improved my b25h experience.  Your mileage may vary.

BTW if you don't like it in white I have others. However white seems to be the best for me so far. Unlike the the more complicated Alpha sights. This one is a simple matter of editing the palete to change colors.

Sorry about all the questions - its just that *I like it* and want to use it effectively.

I have a similar gunsight with similar markings, and I've been trying to get a handle on ranging and altitude. I think your markings are better, so I'll probably shamelessly blend the two.

In fact, I was leaning towards the "it doesn't seem to matter" camp after experimentation, but part of my brain kept saying "but it HAS to matter!"

Now I know that it doesn't really seem to.

Thanks,
