sounds like the fraternal order of coaches, are going to give this little squeaker a little beat down.

Including himself, 15% of all pro coaching jobs this year are going to be filled by direct Belichick disciples. And possibly 3 in the AFC East alone

I don't think it's about giving the squeaker a beat down.  Every coach I've heard about on and off the record has said the taping was over the line.  Billick has always been a whiner and this is nothing new.  If the Jets truly were trying to simulate the snap count I'm sure the refs would've heard it and thrown the flag on the field.

So, what's up with the rumor of the Titans laying more sand on the field to get an advantage over the colts?

Then you are naive.  This is a signal that, if you live in glass houses, you don't throw stones.  It's also a message to let the system work now.  This issue was attacked in the first week of football.   Good signal to all the couches to cut the crap.

But........No one is incensed that Mangini (the Rat) didn't have the same sense of indignation while he was working for Belichek?    I mean, this current bout of righeousness is oddly timed.   If it were a moral issue, he'd have had to speak up when he worked for Bill.

Shut up Rat.   Spend more time worrying about the butt kicking the Jets are taking (0 - 2 and headed down) and you might actually win a game.

Forgotten, but back in the game.  :)

Simulating a snap count on defense is a 5 yard delay of game penalty.  You really think that qualifies as a beat down?  It's nothing more than Billick whining as usual.

All it looks like ot me is that Billick is trying ot shift attention elsewhere now.
He very well knows the short memory span of the media and public alike.
they are only interested until something new comes along.
So. Hes trying ot point out a new story.

Might have worked had he gotten the coach from some other team to say it.
The fact he is saying makes it looks suspicious.

I heard a good point made in one of the pregame shows.
They were saying yes, other Teasm did it.
BUT
A letter was sent to ALL the clubs before the season that it would no longer be tolerated.

The fact that not only did they do it. But they did it using the same exact assistant that was caught in Green Bay last year to do it smacked of arrogance and outright defiance of the rule.

The hefty fine was levied not only as a punishment to Billick. But as a message to all the coaches around the league that Goodell isnt going ot be playing any games with this.
If you do it. And get caught. Its gonna hurt.

Mangini? Sorry, I thought this thread was about flugel horn players.

"At a time when most discussion relating to the NFL centers on whether and to what extent teams are cheating, a league insider pointed out a curious reality from the Colts-Titans game, played in Tennessee on Sunday.

With every step taken by every player, sand was flying everywhere.

For a team's regular-season home opener, how could the field have been in that kind of shape? It's the kind of thing that prompts speculation that the Titans added sand to the field in order to slow down the Colts and their finesse offense.

Video available on NFL.com from the Titans' preseason opener against the Redskins reveals much less sand spray. Though the Colts barely won the game, they've got every right to complain about the fact that the Titans might have done the same kind of thing to them that every team from one time or another has tried to do to a visiting team."

btw, here is an article from '02'

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/inside_game/magazine/life_of_reilly/news/2002/01/09/life_of_reilly/

"Our guy keeps a pair of binoculars on their signal-callers every game," says Broncos coach Mike Shanahan. "With any luck, we have their defensive signals figured out by halftime. Sometimes, by the end of the first quarter."

But hey, I think he's bluffing, and if he isn't, shame on the other team.

The Broncos also manipulated numbers to fit Elway under the salary cap(cheated the cap) during their superbowl years, they were fined a 3rd round draft pick. Mark Schlereth says the Pats superbowls should be questioned, I wonder if he questions his own?

LOL, this is obviously written by someone that has no clue about Tennessee and it's field.  Our field is shared by a local college.  In a few months time the center will be nothing but painted dirt with patches of dead grass thrown in.  The grounds crew does all kinds of things to the field to keep it alive longer, especially given the weather we've had here.  Sand on the field reports from a "league insider"?  More like a Colts insider if you ask me.  Let's see if this story has any legs.

Of course it won't have legs, they never won one championship, let alone three

btw, isn't the titans field artificial?

hmmm

http://www.titansradio.com/coliseumfacts.html

FIELD
Seven full-time professionals take care of the Titans turf. It's called TifSport Bermuda 94, and was laid this spring. The field has a 1 percent crown from the center. A 12 inch layer of peat and sand lie underneath the turf to help in drainage.
