Flak should be line-of-sight only. I shouldn't be taking flak from a base on the opposite side of a mountain.

I have had that problem too.

I hate the puffy AA, its annoying to have that stuff continuously targetting you from ridiculous ranges no matter how you manuever.

To be fair to HTC though, at least they got rid of the horrible stuff over airfields. Its no problem to keep away from strats so I only have to worry about it near CVs.

I'd also like to see the puffy AA concentrate on and become more effective against buffs. Make it so they have around a 1 in 4 chance of losing a plane per bombing run over the target. While we're at it, introduce the idea (think it was HT's) that you have to survive for x seconds after your bombs hit before damage is recorded on the CV.

Its the light AA and player controlled AA that deters vulching of CVs, not the auto puffy AA. Only time I run into it is in CV v CV fights or when defending a base from a CV attack. Even then its more annoying than a serious threat, it just dilutes the suspension of disbelief for me to be chased around the sky by a crude algorithm.

yep greebo puffy ack will target you 10 miles away and piss you off but you fly through it in a cv fight just to get to the fight.

its the manned 5" guns that will blow away anyone loitering too close to the CV and they get fair kills.

theres no need for this BS puffyness around a CV when everyone loves gunning in the 5" guns make them manable :D

The issue with both of these requests is that it isn't "real".  There isn't anything targeting anything, it's just a randomly applied algorithm on your FE (from what's been quoted as being posted by Hitech).

HTC could probably beef up the algorithms to calculate whether the "source" of the flak is in sight, and whether there are "juicier" targets near (or nearer) to the flak source than you, but I suspect it would be hard to do so without making it game-able.

really HT you need to fly in this stuff for 15 minutes with it going bam bam bam bam bam bam bam bam bam bam bam bam over and over while it tracks you with its instant laser guided mindmeld  box of slotmachine russian roulet from 10 miles away that stops instantly at 3k.

then the whole time its counting down your probability of death while your below 3k so once you pop up above 3k for a second after flying for 5 minutes at 3k the puffy ai goes plink and your back in tower.

thats fun. I love it. we should cover whole map with puffy flak. best coad evar!
gonna go fly offline now vs puffy flak because its mroe fun than fighting human adversaries.  yay!

make all the 88mm and cv flak manable and remove the code.  least this would have some realism too it and might actually stop level buffs from flying 10k over the cv unharmed while fighters at 4k 10 miles away get blown away instantly.
i haveint been killed yet by puff sounds anoying though lol

I was attacking a CV the other day and had to quit and go run an errand.

I got a nasty blowout on the way to the store.

I'm pretty sure it was the puffy-ack.  My truck is perked....
