You made a good point tonight.

'How do I know who I'm fighting' (to paraphrase).  All of the regs know and respect the culture of the AVA.  But some people don't or won't do so.  Just for the record when I logged I wasn't po'd it was just time to finish my night and head to dreamland.

I don't know the answer.  When the 'rules' were explained to me I not only respected them but embraced them.  Flying against the regs in a 1 v 1 or 2 v 1 is exhilarating.  Getting into a 1 v 1 and getting picked is a pain the the butt.

I think it all boils down to respect.  You respect the culture, the other players, and try to adhere to what the expectations are.

Some get it and some don't.  I used to pass out a any time I got shot down in the AVA.  Now I pass it out to the people who have earned my respect.

Discuss...

I'd like this to be a civil discussion with no personal animus brought into it.  The staff is trying to figure out how to bring more activity to the arena so what can be done to assist them in this endeavor and hold to the traditions that we all enjoy?

Treat others as you wish to be treated, but at the same time expect people who you act negatively toward to respond in kind.

For the most part I can look at the roster in the AvA and know who's going to do what.

For example, if I see okllok on the other side I know he will go for the HO every time.

Unfortunately I will adjust my tactics to try to handle that, and it will affect how I interact with all the other members of the other side, not knowing who is flying what.  Also I can tell who else will be picking or ganging by seeing who is on the roster and what squads are on. No names, but I do try to pay close attention to the roster when in the AvA, it lets me know what I can expect.

I was tired to begin with last night.  When I look in the roster and I see people like Duke, OM, Maha etc, I know what to expect.  It is easy.  When the Oklloks the sehobs and somee JG54 is on, I also know what to expect.  The problem is that I do want to do every lame thing to those guys.  Why should they get a break if they don't give one to anybody.  Unfortunately, I cant tell who the red guy is and the few times I tried I guessed wrong.

So, had I stayed on last night, I'd probably end up pissing off people like TCFckas, OM, Duke, you, etc.  So, I went to the MA where I know exactly what the expectations are.

I think, I ll be doing that from now on.  If serten people ar in the AvA, I ll just log.  They can have it to them selfs

dedalos is right, nobody who plays AvA for the fight respects someone who never loses a fight. The skill level displayed by those vets ensures that  equal advantages to start a fight nobody goes a night without getting shot down. if youre not losing any fights then youre most likely not fighting at all.

That's simple. Make all AvA staffers actually play in AvA. ;)

I was having a good time with TCF and it was a matter of, maybe another minute, before he got guns on me then BOOM back in the tower.  Like I said it didn't particularly !#%! me off I just wish people would cut that nonsense out.

Ah well... a few planes here, a few there, I'd still rather fly in AVA with the regs and the occasional tardlings than anywhere else.

I still think my dot instaboom command idea is a good one.  I'll only use it justly and wisely ;)

I have to say I was unpleasently surprised at okl..  oko... okanotgonnaworkhere anymore the other night.  I had been in the arena with him before but never paid much attention.  (I was on the same side he was the night I noticed the picking)

I personally believe you have to expect the HO from everyone and play accordingly.  That first pass normally tells you what to expect from an opponent and so I assume it will be a HO for each intercept.

I have also found coming in with alt means I do not have to worry about the HO.   Go figure (I am talking 1k here not BnZing).  Silly tactics.  Even with that advantage 9 out of 10 times I am the one hitting the tree anyway.

Now, having someone pick all night long is just sad.  I watch as that guy would wait till a friendly would send the enemy into a wingless spin and then dive down to get the kill.  Sad sad sad.  I picked somebody (dicho I think) the other night while I was playing around in a jet but that was pure accident and I apologized.

Stats should be turned off in the AvA.  I like to see how I am doing but if it reinforces that behavior I do not need it.

I'm Dichodog in game.

I can promise I was probably laughing when it happened.  In all seriousness occasionally one of the regs is going to ho, pick, gang, etc..,  9 times out of 10 they're going 'oops sorry dude'.  I know I do when I feel like I gave somebody a lead face, collide, or realize I'm part of a conga line.  So I write it off to an 'oops' when it happens to me from you, Old, TCF, etc...,

It's the guys for whom that behavior over and over again seem to be their modus operandi that annoy me.  Well as annoyed as I get in game anyway.  99.9% of the time when I'm flying my cartoon airplane not distracted by offspring, bills, my coworkers, dogs that don't know that bodily functions are to be performed outside, an injured wife (long story), or any of the other day to day 'problems' we all deal with,  I'm happy and at ease.   Lose a plane?  Laugh at my stupidity or ignorance and go get a new one.

Frankly that's why I generally fly in the AVA because the core group of players that respect the culture of the arena are really good people that I'd gladly accept into my home any time.

BTW, we're having a housewarming party on October 5th, me and Mia, all AvA people are welcome, we can discuss about the different approaches to the arena then. This will be happening at Tampere, Finland, you're all welcome. :)

(Drinks will be on the house, I can arrange sleeping places for a couple of persons).
