Bomber gun positions.
« on: September 19, 2007, 11:18:18 PM »
Are all the bomber gun positions in all the bombers able to be shot out like in the B-25? I am wondering this for I am not a bomber pilot and wonder if the damage model includes the other bombers. If they do not I believe we should have it put in for it is a lot more realistic. I have heard people complain about it on the B-25 and feel how should I say....Can you take a 20mm round to the chest?

I wondered why I always lost the tail first, until the first time I actually looked at the tail turret.

FWIW, in my experience, only the Il2 loses the rear gun as quickly. You can fire heavy cannons into the tails or in the proximity of gun positions on other bombers without result, but a burst into these 2 is almost certain to knock them out. Given their construction, and lack of any protection, it makes sense, I suppose.

The answer is yes, Saskid, you can lose gunner on any bomber. But, as hub pointed out, there are bombers and positions that are more exposed to damage than others.

Ive never lost a gunner in any other bomber but the 25. The most that happens is the gunners window gets a hole shot in it.

Forgot to add, yes, the gun positions can all be shot out, (but not the bombardier's position), however it does not happen often in my experience.
