sharpton is all for crying racism whenever it's white on black, meanwhile he can say that obama is acting "too white" by not showing up to the protests.

Isn't that in itself a hypocritcal statement?

This pretty much sums up how I feel:

Quote

Walters said he didn't charge the white students accused of hanging the nooses because he could find no Louisiana law under which they could be charged. In the beating case, he said, four of the defendants were of adult age under Louisiana law and the only juvenile charged as an adult, Mychal Bell, had a prior criminal record.

"It is not and never has been about race," Walters said. "It is about finding justice for an innocent victim and holding people accountable for their actions."

There should be public outcry over mistreatment and injustices to fellow man.  Once you bring race into the equation it's nothing but political.

He was complaining that Barak Obama was "acting too white" in Obama not making stronger statements regarding the Jena 6.

I was there last week for thier Homecoming game and was talking to a couple of parents on the sidelines. They said the first time Jackson and Sharpton came down there was 3,000+ blacks protesting and the only locals that was there were the accused family members. All the rest were bused in from around the country.

They said it was Sharpton and Jackson that are turning this into a race issue and forgetting that Bell has a rap sheet longer than your leg.

From what I saw, the stadium was packed and the whites and the blacks were intermingled in the stadium watching and enjoying the HCing. NOT what you would expect if there was racial tensions.

Oh, there was hightened security though. Four BIG State Troopers down on the side lines watching the game.

I'd say to watch for something actually during the trial, or after a verdict is passed. That's the way it was during the King riots.

Whether you like them or not Sharpton and Jackson stand up for what they think is right. They have a tramendous impact on the media. Why would you mention hanging someone who exercises their right to free speech/protest. If you don't like them, that's fine, but wanting them to be hanged?

We are only 40 years removed from the civil rights movement. To think that racism is doesn't exist is ridiculous. Hopefully, justice will prevail and these kids get a fair trial.

What should their cause be? To make the 'white' majority of the population agree with them?

The actions of a few do not represent the majority. The black race is set back by the jena 6?...yea right. So did Timothy McVea set back the white race?

I will never understand how some of the people on this thread come to their conclusions on social issues.

By promoting racism?

When Jackson was in Jena the first time about this, he was saying it was just a school yard fight and should be treated as such. What would he have said if it was 6 white boys beating a black boy?

jesse jackson is interested in money and getting face time in front of a camera to feed his ego. I have even less respect for sharpton.
