The article says the pilot did suffer serious injuries. I was wondering that if that was true why was he still sitting there after the fire dept had obviously been there for a while. Perhaps the writer made a mistake?

It remains to be seen whether the injuries were that serious or not. The news article on the original link might not been accurate. The thing is that he's concious and reacts to the surroundings, which means he's not very seriously injured. A serious injury can be an open bone fracture.

He's alive regardless of the serious looking accident, but I simply can't bypass the fun factor of the photo, especially because he's alive. I doubt anyone can seriously say there's absolutely nothing funny in the photo. We've seen worse and we've had jokes of those.

Eitherway, it's too late for me to make any changes to this thread.

VWE, a tip for the future, you forgot to mention 9/11 or Dale Earnhardt.  For messages like yours, that's really a big oversight.  Also, an eagle with a single tear rolling down its cheek superimposed over an american flag next time might be good.

A Beech 18 like that can haul a decent about of weight, but loading is always a concern, both for weight and CG.

The Beech 18 is statistically one of the most dangerous aircraft in the sky,  this is a result of it's primary role as a night cargo hauler, typically operated on a shoestring budget with old radial engines.

He tries to use the war in Iraq as a tool to bolster his message, and I'm the sweetheart?  That's interesting.

No.  He is saying his experiences there have changed his perspective and does not find pictures of bloody survivors funny.  I understand his sensitivity but still find the matter fair game.  You are just twisting the view to fit your skewed perspective.  Hence, you are are a sweetheart.  Don't be one.

So that makes it ok for him to try to force his perspective on others with demeaning talk and insults?

but still no explaination as to why he's still in his seat????

My guess is his legs are pinned.  In wich case he's extremely lucky cause it looks like the plane literally broke up around him.

Chairboy or VWE?  You have to admit they are both guilty.
