I would have liked to get an answer to this before I install more hardware but since my TrackIR just arrived I guess it will come too late. Just a hint would be nice.

Chalenge,

I'd say this is something specific to your system rather than a general bug in the program.  The quickest way to resolve it is to give us a call at 817-251-1540 when you're in front of your computer.

I just talked with the IT guy from my company here. He says that since all my firmware and software is up to date with patches bios updated and windows properly loaded its not likely to be a problem with my system. If you really think you can find a problem in my system please let me know but Im usually too busy weekdays. I do VPN work through our company on weekends so my IT guy is very familiar with my machine.

Do you have the AMD dual core optimizer installed?  That's the first thing that jumps out at me.  Go ahead and right click on your Aces High icon and go to properties.  Click on the compatibility tab and check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and then select Windows 98/ME in the drop down box.

Run AH and see if that fixes your problem.  If it does you can either continue to run in compatibility mode or download the dual core optimizer from AMD.  See this thread for more info:

I went ahead and moved this thread as it really does appear to be more of a technical support issue than a game bug.

Yes I have the AMD dual core optimizer loaded. I went down the stickied help skuzzy has posted here and checked that everything was done as he recommended. The only thing nagging at me is the fact that I never installed the XFX supplied drivers for the 7950s. Could that be a problem or should the 162.18 WHQL drivers be okay? I see there are beta drivers out that might help what about them?

ASUS also has a beta version of their bios and I have never gone to that either. What do you think about that?

I went into the TA and buzzed around for about twenty minutes before the game locked up again. Maybe the game isnt installed just right? I would take it off if I could save my stick settings and then put it back on again. Open to other suggestions too.

/usepmtimer I think was the problem. Thanks for the help and I will let you know if the crash comes back. I buzzed around with widewing for quite a while in low level wingovers and it seems to be gone.

I had to remove /usepmtimer and the directions by Skuzzy said to add it, or that the AMD Dual Core drivers would add it. It does seem to be causing a problem at least in my case and even little flickers I used to see as pauses when new planes came up on the runway are gone. I will keep you informed if any trouble appears but so far its good as is.

Those drivers for your nvidia video cards (162.18) are really buggy.  I had no luck with the 160 seriers drivers at all for my 7900GT which is nearly the same cards u have.  I suggest going back to the 94 series which I using without a hitch.

I guess its a little different with the 7950s. Now that I got rid of the usepmtimer problem all the sticking frames and little hesitations are gone even in using the tracker.

Nvidia released forceware version 163.71 just in time. This morning I had AH lockup on me just trying to get it started. I had just updated the nforce drivers to 6.86 and things got much worse but with the new video drivers everything seems much smoother.
