the c47 right now is defence less and in real life had a 50 cal in the side. it also could carry 28 people compared to our 10 here's my proof

http://www.airpages.ru/cgi-bin/epg.pl?nav=uk60&page=c47 im sick of being blasted by a jeep that i could have blown up with my 50.
i would enjoy a 50 on my plane so i could stand a chance.

The reason we have 10 troops in the goon rather than 28 is because 10 is all that's needed to capture a base. Wouldn't be fair to the defending team if they had to kill 19 troops to make it a no capture.

As for a .50 cal in the goon, I don't really think we need it. If the attackers do their job right then all the goon needs to do is fly in and drop troops.

If a C-47 carried an .50 cal MG, it was a field mod. They were unarmed as delivered. HTC doesn't model field mods...

Oh, and if you consider that website as "proof", you need to raise your concept of proof a few dozen notches.

Yes, but the Ju 52 was a lot slower than the C-47, meaning that it would take longer to get to a base. That means hanger queen status.

And with somewhat 40mph less than a C-47, that 13mm dorsal gun and two 7.92 mm guns in the sides (Ju-52/3m g7e version) won't be a huge increase in survivability at all...

JU-52.... BAH

Give us the Messerschmitt Me-323 "Gigant" Transport

Armament:
Five MG 15 mounted in nose mounts
Six Mg 34 infantry MG's in beam windows

Waffentraeger (Weapons Carrier)
11 20mm MG 151 cannon
and
4 13mm MG 131 Machine Guns

This version also carried several tonnes of armor and bulletproof glass. Eventually it was decided that escort fighters would be more effective and this version did not see wide-spread production.

the giganto was suposed to be a glider that was going to be able to cary a panzer III and infantry during the invasion of britain they had to use 4 ratos and 2 twin engen fighters aka it was to darn heavy the germans put the twin engen fightes together because some would crash into each other i am not shure if they were fighters or medium bombers the six engins were added but it still needed ratos to get off the ground they were easy targets for alied fighters most were used on the eastern front
the c47 has been known to survive kamacasie hits from zeeks after they pumped it full of lead i learned of it from the book american planes of world war II:aok

The Russian and Japanese produced versions of the DC-3 were, as I recall, delivered with armament.  The C-47 was not.
