the claimed use for the gun is dual purpose with one being to kill snakes.

I can't really see any use for the gun if you already own a few handguns.  It doesn't really appeal to me at all but I can see that it would work for some.

It looks like its fun to shoot and would probably be good for snakes and such.. I live in the country and often have stray dogs show up whose dispostion are unknown and so far they just run off when I go outside... but one day there may be one that doesnt run off..I would consider getting one of these but at it's effective range almost any handgun would be just as good or better.. even in the "confines" of a vehicle.   The only advantage I can see is with using the 410 you dont have to really worry about ricochets or bullets going through your intended target and hitting an innocent...even though I live in the country I do have neighbors about 200 feet on both sides of me and houses across the street

also  it would make a good zombie weapon...

It's a nice concept but I doubt it has that much use. In the shotgun mode it will be practically a contact weapon for 2 reasons. The spread of the shot column and the small size of the shot in a 410 shotgun shell. If you go to a 410 buckshot type of thing you might as well be shooting the regular handgun ammo anyhow. Penetration will also be an issue with the shotgun shell.

I wouldn't bother with it if you are already carrying or using a handgun.

In the car jacking situation they talk about in the clip, it's poor tactics to try and out draw some one who already has their gun out and pointing at you while yours is holstered, as long as you have any choice what so ever. If you think they are going to kill you anyhow then all bets are off and you do what you can.

didnt someone do this already anyway?  Didnt Colt or Smith&Wesson make a 410 derringer, and i mean recently like the last 30 years or so.. not that old west stuff...I recall something like two barrels, a .22 maybe and .410...

Haven't fired the Judge, but I've handled it at the store.  Very nice feel, and incredibly smooth trigger pull.  I like the 410 option, since I live in an urban area and am worried about a high-powered round going through a wall and hitting an unintended target.  It also makes for an excellant weapon to take hiking or camping.  Keep 410s in two chambers and 45's in the other three.  That way you can take care of any variety of pest that decides to bother you, whether it slithers or walks.:aok

I have not fired this gun yet. I do own a Thunder Five. It is a five shot 410/45 Colt revolver. The rights to the gun have been sold a few times. They have been around since 1990. So this idea is not a new one. Taurus is just really good at making copies.

I  dig it... but... how is it legal with the laws regarding sawed off shotguns? I could see a judge & jury being easily convinced that it is one.

It skirts the issue of being a shot gun as it has a rifled barrel and not a smooth bore. The 410 just happens to be the same diameter as the pistol cartridge.

I am not remotely interested in such a weapon for self defense.  Give me my Glocks or HK USP's.

At any range beyond close, you run the risk of wounding without killing.  Although most shootouts are VERY close range, I still would prefer the greater range afforded by a regular round.

Finally, I don't really want to deal with the lawsuit of the wounded criminal.   If I am ever faced with shooting, God forbid, I don't want to wound the criminal.
