Maybe go about it in a whole different way.

Scrap the monthly tour and record all kills per year.

Whoever has the most kills wins!

Make it searchable for KD, hit %, fighter kills, bomber kills etc etc.

My one issue with the "most kills per year" thing is there are people with poor rank (as it's calculated now), but many kills because they have more time to play than others.  This will not fully represent those who have less time to play.

Scca you can apply that same theory to what we have now.  The guys with more time on their hands will most likely rank higher and have more kills.

A quick search on KD or Kills per sortie will reveal the better killer / vulchers.

IE selecting fighter rank only.

Obviously people can see how much time a player has put in and if they feature high up the list you could say wow  Scca is 10th but has played 1/2 the time of the guy in 1st place he must be badass  etc etc.

I see the whole milking issue as people trying their best to get low numbers on their scorecard to feature at the top of the scoring lists.

At least with an annual log people will be more inclined to just play, kill and enjoy than worrying about how low they can go.

Kill total is currently only 20% of total fighter rank computation. You can still play far less time than average and get some "decent" ranking.

In your proposal, kill numbers would make up 100%. Absolutely not better than what we have now.

I know that HT was considering something along these lines. Hopefully, it is what he will do.

Lol, Lusche, see the smilies? I was kidding... it's just funny that you were the first one to compliment HTC for score separation and, then, the first one to ask for something that is really like having a single score... ;)

Oh for the love of Mike ... now I have to not care about 3 different ranks ... thanks HT for tripling my not care factor.

Wasn't this Guppy's idea ? ... if not, I am still gonna blame it on him.

Well, how can you define a ranking without something that is, in the end, a score? If that is what you are referring to....

I like Lushe's idea because it would force all the score potato's to go play in each of the arenas and force them to play every aspect of the game in each arena.

The down side is for the guys who are now able to achive a decent rank even though they don't play that much.  They'd have a much more difficult time ranking decently.

Oh, and by the way, if the ranks are all done seperatley how in the world are there ever going to be 50 players ranked in EW?  That's more than visit there in a month ;)
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

50 is the max ... nothing stopping the display of less than 50.

In my idea, scores are strictly seperate:
One k/h in EW, one in MW, one in LW. Same for k/s ect.

All scores translate in arena specific ranks:
One fighter rank in EW, one fighter rank in MW, and one in LW

then add an overall RANK only (not score!). Based upon combined ranks, not combined scores.
For example like this:

Fighter ranks tour 99:
                  overall     EW     MW    LW
  Player A          2           5     4     5
  Player B          3          15     8     1

Ok, Lusche, I got it, but I don't think it would change much comparing that to the actual system. In the end, the score potatos will again milk run, avoiding each other to have the highest possible ranks... just as it is now.

In fact, I'd like to correct one of my previous statement, as I mistyped it: next stop is to get rid of ranking. Then, only then, we'll be free of milk running!
