I learned to fly over San Diego, flying 150s, 152s, and 172s out of Montgomery Field.  There is some great flying in that area once you figure out how to handle or avoid the controlled airspace.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

The shot with the lake, was that taken in the Palomar airport area in Carlsbad Cal.? I used to fly in there when visiting my brother

The pic appears cropped to me but regardless of that I would still place it in human perspective if I was presenting it.

Cessna almost looks like he's grinning doesn't it? Like, he's ready to mount and hump the Beech-18

Just something cool about this:

http://www.alexisparkinn.com/photogallery/Videos/2006-11-10_MH_53Mdeckantennahit_starboardview_.mpg

"I thought you might like some clarification about these two videos. The MH53 Pave Low involved in the mishap is from the 21st Special Operations Squadron from Mildenhall, England. They were conducting operations to/from the USS LaSalle when they drifted a wee bit too close to the ships antennas."

"After the mishap, the ship pulled into Augusta Bay, Sicily. The Pave Low's two engines, main gear box and all its rotor blades were removed and it was then externally lifted approximately 50 kilometers by a US Navy MH-53E Sea Dragon helicopter from HC-4."
