How aboout an arena where if you die you are exited from the arena and have to wait an hour or another specified time to re-enter it.

Working on my second cup of coffee, sorry for the wacky cogitation.

would be interesting, drop the dead time to 15 mins so you don't lose too much of the population.  (you can always go gun for 15mins til you can reup)

One question, in this setup, why ever engage?  You aren't really fighting for anything that really matters so all engaging does is risk a big penalty.

The only time people would engage in that kind of environment is with massive advanatges, and they'd bug out as soon as they felt it slipping away too.

Remember, you need to balance the death penalty with the desire to fight, otherwise you end up with competely unhistorical timidity.

Maybe have a time limit of some sort.
You have to land hits on the enemy in the alloted time of 10 mins or you get sent to the tower?

(Seriously, I have no clue  )

I kind of like the idea. :)

Sort of a month long KOTH. You die, you're booted from the arena and your kill count starts over again when you return an hour later. If you exit on your own, you keep your kill count and can continue at any time.
Most of the people you meet in life are like slinkies. Pretty much useless, but still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

In a different game I play known as Free Allegiance this option is widely used. It uses a ranking system so other players know your particular talent level so they can decide if you should contribute to their team by fighting for them or if you should join the other team.

Anyways, we have what's known as a Kill Bonus. However many kills you get, your kill bonus is raised slowly. The higher your Kill Bonus, the more points you receive to help raise your rank after the war is won (If you win). However if you are killed you lose your Kill Bonus and all the points with it.
